This 1966 Jaguar S-Type is believed to have been sold new in California and was acquired by the seller 14 years ago. Power comes from a 4.2L inline-six from a 1980s-era Jaguar XJ that was reportedly installed 500 miles ago. The transmission is a 4-speed manual equipped with a non-functional overdrive unit. This example has reportedly won multiple trophies in local car shows during the seller's ownership and features a red leather interior that was reupholstered in 2003. This Jaguar is being offered with the original owner's manual, multiple service records, and a clean Texas title in the seller's name.

The seller describes that the white paint has assorted rock chips that have been touched-up. Some corrosion is noted around the driver-side door near the front fender.

According to the seller, the chrome presents well but has not been refinished and the wire wheels are mounted with a new set of tires. The seller states that the car has won multiple trophies in the "Driven" class of various local car shows.

The interior was reupholstered in 2003 and is currently finished in red leather with matching red carpeting. Note the wood burled wood finish on the dash, and the wooden steering wheel and interior window sills.

A more modern radio has been installed on the lower center console, and numerous Smiths gauges are present on the dash. Approximately 72,625 miles are shown on the odometer, though that figure cannot be verified.

Originally fitted with a 3.8L XK inline-six, this example received a 4.2L inline-six from a 1980's XJ less than 500 miles ago. The engine is backed by a 4-speed manual transmission, though the seller notes that the overdrive is not functional. The driver-side tank needs to be relined and will quickly clog the carbs and fuel system through repeated use.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
