Ebay item 8/16/11
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-/250874876550
C $15,000 approximately US $15,245.45 reserve not met, no bids 6 days left in auction.

Sellers description:
1962 Jaguar Mk 2 Saloon
3.4 Litre, 4 Speed Overdrive, 4 wheel disc brakes

Brief History - I bought the car on May 2, 1986. On May 5, 1986, the car was left with Gene's Sports Car Service to do a complete checkup. On May 9, 1986 the restoration began. The engine, transmission and clutch were removed, inspected and photographed. I took the valve covers, carburetors, carburetor manifold and air intake (2 parts) home for cleaning and polishing. By September 1986 the car's mechanical parts were repaired, reassembled and adjusted. In November 1986 all inside wood trimming, all chrome trim, bumpers, lights, upholstery seats and carpets were removed and taken to my home for cleaning.

The old paint was striped from the car and parts ordered to replace rusted panels. In September 1987 all rust was cut out for replacement with new panels and metal. On November 1, 1988 we discovered that the car had caught fire almost a year earlier. Apparenly the welder saw a small flame among the front electrical wires, blown it out with his mouth and continued welding. Details of the car fire, the search for answers to questions about the fire, the subsequent search for a body man to carry on the restoration and the move on February 24, 1990 from Gene's Sports Car to British Continental Motors are set out in a diary type report.

British Continental began to repair the damage and continue with the restoration. They gave the car 12 coats of lacquer, replaced the headliner, replaced the burnt switch console and installed a new wiring harness they had found in Seattle.. While British Continental was dealing with body work, wiring and checking the running gear, I was cleaning and polishing the door window mechanisms, the bumpers, the chrome trim pieces and the head light parts. As well I repaired various bits of upholstered panels, the door panels and all the wood trim was refinished. The seat upholstery was sent out for repair. As the restoration progressed, I delivered the refurbished parts from my home to the body shop. On July 22, 1991 I took delivery of my restored Jaguar and drove home.

Service History - A detailed service history since 1991 is available. The car was maintained by XJ Motors since 1994. The owner of XJ Motors retired this year and service will now be performed by Octagon Motor Group. The clutch replaced in November 1998. New hoses and brakes repaired in June, 2011. The car passed the British Columbia AirCare Vehicle Inspection on May 2, 2011.

Mileage - In 1984 mileage recorded as 101,000 miles. Since restoration speedometer reading today is 21,591.

Running Gear - Clutch replaced in November 1998. New hoses and brakes repaired in June, 2011.

Glass - There is a small crack on the front windshield (1 inch diameter) see picture marked with circle.

Chrome - All trim, bumpers, door handles in excellent shape.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
