This 1967 Jaguar 340, Mk II was owned by world renowned landscape and figure artist Herbert L. Fink, who purchased the car from the original owner in 1978. The odometer reads 79,793 miles, and reflects the actual mileage on the car. Documentation is provided with the car that verifies the mileage. The car was last registered for the road in 2004, and to the best of my knowledge was driven less than 50 miles that summer. Since then the car has been run from time to time and moved about to keep everything in working order, but it hasn't been driven on the road for a few years. For the past twenty years that I've known the car, it was driven maybe 50 to 150 miles per year, as the summer season is quite short here in Maine.

I am selling the car for the estate but I am not a car salesman, I'm the mechanic that has serviced the car for most of the last 20 years. I first met Mr. Fink back in the mid eighties when I worked as a bodyman/mechanic at a little sports car dealership. Years later when I opened my own car repair business, Mr Fink entrusted me to take full care of his classic english cars. Since the mid nineties I have been the one that put the car in storage every September, took it out again in May, polished it, serviced it, repaired what need be, and delivered it to Mr. Fink for the summer. I think I can answer any questions anyone would have about this car, and being a seasoned ebay member with over 300, 100% positive feedbacks, you can be assured there is no B.S. here. I tell it like it is.

The engine was comletely rebuilt from top to bottom in 2001, and has only been driven about 100 miles since. The engine compartment was repainted and detailed while the engine was out. The brake system was all rebuilt prior to that. The wheel bearings have all been replaced, as well as the ball joints, front suspension bushings, and mounts. The automatic transmission works fine and to my knowledge has never been rebuilt, though the seals have been replaced before. The mufflers and rear exhaust pipes are stainless steel. This car just needs exterior paint and minor interior work to make it a really nice car. The body has had a few little bumps over the years, but nothing serious. There are no big dents or anything like that. There are some big paint cracking and peeling spots on the right rear corner and on the drivers front fender. The lower front fenders and rocker panels were repaired about ten years ago, and are solid. The underside of the car is solid. The rear door bottoms, rear fenders, and rear jacking points are in need of rust repair work. The chrome is is fair to good condition, the worst being the rear bumper that shows its age the most. The interior is all original, and even the seats are in nice condition for their age. The original carpeting is worn and faded, but doesn't look too bad. The door panels are in good condition. The weather seals for the doors are worn and need to be replaced. The front and rear window seals have been replaced. The headliner is a little moth eaten at the edges, but all intact and not falling down. The wood work could use some new varnish in places. The guages and lights are all in working order. The painted wire wheels are in good condition, although they're not original. Someone buying the car would want to make new tires their first priority, as these have a lot of age/weather cracks, and wouldn't be safe to drive on. This car would be a good winter project, or a rolling restoration, as most of the major work has already been done.
