Car to be at auction 3/14
www.historics.co.uk/buying/auctions/2014-03-08/car/jaguar-mk-ii-saloon-%28red%29 ...
Auction description:
Registration 861 YUC
Chassis Number P160243BW
Engine Number KH5519-8
Odometer reading 4,263 miles
Estimate £8,000 - £12,000
Sympathetically restored in 1987 with bright red coachwork and a tan interior, this factory automatic saloon benefits from reclining front seats and picnic tables to the rear. The door cappings and dash top have been replaced but the real story is underneath. The engine has had a comprehensive top-end rebuild and de-coke. New shims, pistons, rings have also been fitted as well as a full carburettor rebuild. The front brakes and suspension have also been meticulously dis-assembled and re-built with new discs, pads and calipers. The back end also has re-built calipers and new pads. The body shell is described by the vendor as completely sound although there is evidence of minor corrosion to the lower doors and boot edge. With the oily parts restored, a twelve month MoT test certificate and a plentiful history file, this could represent an excellent opportunity to finish off a classic Jaguar with a fascinating past.

First Registered: 1962
Registration No: 861 YUK
Mileage: 6700
Chassis No: 160243BW
MOT: October 2016
Colour: Red
The vendor states that he has log books going back to 1962 and has MOT's going back to 2001. The car was originally registered as 9876 DD in 1962 (in Gloucestershire). Believed to have been a barn find in 1988 and totally rebuilt and repainted red in 1990 - 1991.
The vendor says that he was told that new pistons were installed in about 2009 and that the car was purchased by TLO Film Services in 2011, when the Registration was changed to KBY 95C for shooting in the film "The Hot Potato" The car was driven by Ray Winstone in the film, (A gangster movie set in 1960's London and Europe) . All of the film promotional material and the DVD, along with many any old invoices and bills, are included in the history file.
DVLA agreed on the registration being changed in 2011 to 861 YUC and there is a Jaguar Heritage Certificate and much more info as well.
Recently, since the vendor has owned the car, he has done the following works: New battery, coil, electronic ignition, electronic fuel pump, new auto steering box, (the auto box has had new end seals) and other works have been done to the suspension. There is a Kenlowe fan fitted, the interior has been renovated and the carpets and wooden veneers are in good condition. All gauges and electrics work fine. The car has the original tool kit, wire wheels, good radial tyres and said to drive well, with excellent oil pressure, good road holding and stability at speed.
