Car to be at auction 11/14
www.historics.co.uk/buying/auctions/2014-11-29/cars/1961-jaguar-mk-ii-saloon-%28 ...
Auction description:
Registration 955BYR
Chassis Number P154751 B/W
Engine Number KG 7823-8
Odometer reading 84,659 miles
Estimate £9,000 - £12,000
Originally supplied by Henlys at Piccadilly, London W1, to Mrs. K. Tansley of Hyde Park Street, London on 1st May 1961, this Mk. II was taken by Mrs. Tansley to Tangier in September 1962 where it remained until 1983. Upon returning to the UK, the car was then transferred to Mr. P. Skinner who is Mrs. Tansleys' son. Mr. Skinner remains as the only other name on the registration document; the current owner has not transferred the document into his name even though he has owned the Jaguar for some 25 years. Having stored it for his lengthy ownership, the vendor has recently re-commissioned the Jaguar prior to offering her for auction. Our test drive indicated everything operating as it should, although some further re-commissioning is required to enhance the car further, it should be noted however that she passed an MoT on 24th October 2014 with only a couple of minor advisories. Supplied with the original bill of sale indicating the cost price of £1,983-11-8d including the extras of; Power steering, laminated windscreen, white wall tyres, front seat belts and a Cartec safety lock (very rare and still on the car). An interesting history file including the buff logbook accompanies this car which is a matching numbers example and bearing the original registration plate of 955 BYR. Finished in Carmen Red with a grey leather interior, this early automatic model is a great project with many features including the interior in original condition.
