Car returns to ebay 6/10/13
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1967-Jaguar-420G-Mark-10-Mk-restored-classic-sleeper-502 ...
Opening bid $12,000 reserve not met, no bids 6 days left in auction. Car now said to be in Houston, Texas. 75k miles.

Sellers description:
Physician owner is selling this ultimate classic sleeper cruiser, restored 4-door Jaguar. Black exterior; black leather interior.

The car is presently garaged in Houston, TX, but will be trailered to the Norfolk, VA, area on June 26, 2013, unless other conditions are requested.

Own a dramatic British classic at a mere fraction of the restoration cost. This car was totally gone through and restored, and important aspects were upgraded and updated for reliability - including the entire drive train, AC system, alternator, ignition, front suspension, oil and water cooling system. brakes and wheels.

A real sleeper, this car looks stock from the outside, but has a factory-direct crate engine that is 502 cubic inch with fancy stuff inside (from the factory), so no amateurish mechanics here. HOWEVER, there is no outrageous cam, so the car is very smooth in traffic.

Approx $90,000 was invested since 1998 in the upgrades, improvements, and total bare-metal restoration. There is nothing amateurish about this car. Everything was done correctly on the paint job: priming, undercoating, sealing, detailing. The new GM 502 c.i. engine was purchased directly from GM factory and was professionally installed, along with a new Turbo400 automatic transmission with GearVendor overdrive/underdrive unit for performance as well as maximal fuel economy; it also has the new upgraded XJS suspension and brakes. No money was spared in upgrades and improvements, while maintaining external authenticity. Even the dual gas tanks were redone. Thousands of dollars alone were spent on black Sikkens Urethane paint. This car has probably been driven less than 15K miles since this total restoration, which was begun in 1998.

The car comes with its Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate, certifying its authenticity. Actual car mileage is not recorded for antiques that are licensed in Virginia, so it would require extensive title research over the past 40 years to warrant the mileage. However, the restoration can be documented. The car has antique plates "KAT-BXX.".

The features are almost too numerous to list, but include:

- Overdrive/Underdrive unit (made by GearVendor), actually gives you 8 forward gears on the automatic transmission;

- Upgraded and new radiator for best cooling;

- Dependable GM air conditioning system replaces old 60's system, with unit mounted in the rear as per the original 420G's;

- Dependable 150amp Delco-Remy alternator (eliminates the unreliable Lucas electronics); new battery; new high torque starter;

- Updated suspension from XJS, with XJS rack and pinion steering; car is slightly lowered for a more modern sleek pose than was considered chic back in 1967;

- Upgraded brakes using racing components for best stopping power; brake cooling ducts installed; 4-wheel power disc brakes;

- All burled walnut woodwork was redone; features fold-down "picnic tables" in the back seat, with built-in vanity mirrors;

- All chrome work was redone; windshields were removed and seals replaced;

- Engine compartment totally insulated with space age material; heat shields used in transmission area;

- Dunlap chrome wire wheels with Bridgestone tires;

- Dual electric fans installed with thermostatic switches, so they only come on when needed;

- Custom oil cooler, high volume/high pressure oil pump, and a remote filter system all goes to increase the oil capacity and improve oil cooling;

- Alarm and big stereo with hidden antenna.

- Rear mounted AC, correct for vintage.

The car has seen only synthetic oil and has been maintained by car mechanic.

Despite the restoration, this car still maintains original components that are about 47 years old, and for the sake of maintaining originality, many of these were left in place. Therefore, bear in mind that this is not a NEW car, but an excellent restoration of a disappearing classic car.

The pictures are from about 5 years ago, however, nothing visually is changed from that time (although numerous additional internal changes occurred, e.g., electric fans, oil cooling system, AC work, etc). Numerous other pictures documenting the restoration are available.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
