Apparently Red Skelton received the car and immediately had it skillfully repainted in his choice of maroon. Has factory air conditioning. Has had 3 owners, all in CA, since. Not registered since 1994.

Of course the interior could have been a special order, but that does not seem likely if the paint too was an undesired colour by the first owner who then had the car repainted in his choice of Maroon. Again only a JDHT certificate would confirm how it was built.

If you have a JDHT certificate, it would be great if you could add it in the photos on this wonderful site.

Sincerely,

Pekka T.

Thanks to T. Pekka for his comments. The original car color was Opalescent Desert Tan. Mr. Skelton received it directly from the factory to Cathedral City, CA and then had it repainted in the maroon that you see in the photos. The car has been repainted in places at least 2 times. We found the original Skelton maroon on the airconditioning condenser in the trunk and used it for the sample. The interior is Tan and is original to the car. Car has been shown twice. Best in Class at the New England Concours in 2009 and chosen for the Saratoga Invitational in 2010. More photos will be forthcoming.

Car is now repainted in Red Skelton's original color which shows exceedingly well.
Changes for driveability include: 15" Jaguar Series II Sedan rims with 205 15 tires for ride and handling; stainless steel exhaust system; Jaguar Series II external rear view mirrors for safety; and an up-graded audio system. Have all of the original components which can be replaced. Mechanically, the carburators and fuel line distribution system have been rebuilt with original components. The heads and head gaskets have been refurbished and replaced. All rubber throughout the car have been replaced.
Was shown at Radnor-Hunt Invitational in Philadelphia and was awarded Second in Class in 2011.

Original owner of this 420G was comedy and television legend Richard "Red" Skelton who purchased it from the factory and had it refinished in a custom shade of maroon named "Skelton Red" from its original Desert Tan hue.
