Auction description:
Lot No: 117
Manufacturer Jaguar Cars
Model 420G
First Registered 1968
Registration No WLT992G
Engine No 7D58592-8
Chassis No G1D55981BW
MOT May 2011
Colour Sand/Sable
This 420G has been in the vendor's care since it was two years old. The car was originally supplied to a lady painted in Ascot Fawn but she hated the colour on delivery and asked the dealers to repaint the car, at her cost, in Golden Sand. This they did and it remained in that single colour until the vendor added the metallic sable flanks some years ago. Otherwise the car remains in outstanding original condition.
The car is offered complete with MOT certificates dating back to 1974 showing 44,075 miles. Just 20,000 miles have been added in the intervening 37 years making a warranted 64,200 miles in total.
The vendor has carried out all of his own servicing so there is no huge file of bills, but there is a valuation from Duncan Hamilton dating from 1988, when they valued the car at £10,000, and a bill from a trimmer for a new headlining in 2000.
This really is a truly original motor car, which is in excellent, sound condition throughout. The fact that it has been in the same ownership for 39 years and is largely unmolested makes it very rare. The fact that it is one of the few that have been well cared for is also rare and makes the car a desirable, collectable specimen.
It may be viewed at our Marchwood facility, by appointment.
Note: This description is provided by the vendor and unless otherwise stated is 'Not Verified' by Barons or any person employed by Barons. Prospective purchasers are advised to satisfy themselves as to the accuracy of any statements made, whether they be statements of fact or opinion.
Estimate £6500-8500

Lot 379 - 1968 Jaguar 420G
Registration WLT 992G Chassis Number GID5598BW Engine Number 7D58592.8 Odometer reading 64,206 miles EstimateNo Reserve
Acquired in 2011 by the vendor, this 4.2 litre 420G presents in above average condition throughout with just two minor imperfections. Presented with factory specified two-tone paintwork of tan over bronze, there is minor welding to the nearside rear sill but this appears sound. There is also minor corrosion to the offside front wheel arch and a crack to the rear door. The interior leather shows patina but the woodwork is in good order. The history file shows an extensive MoT test documentation as well as invoices and a valuation by none other than classic motorsport specialist, Duncan Hamilton. Inspection is recommended.
