This lovely Jaguar 420G four-door saloon was bought new by a Mr Charles Kilner in 1968 who was a very well to do business man in Rugby, but when he stopped driving he simply stuck it in the garage along with another car that John was asked to clear last year. John was told that it had been stored for six years, but in fact, the last tax disc said 1983, that's more like seventeen years, but it was in a good dry garage and even the tyres had not gone flat.
After it was removed John simply had all the fluids changed and the petrol tank cleaned and it passed it's MOT test with flair and everything else would seem to be in good working order. John now recommends though that anyone who buys it today fits new tyres because they are now old and a tad square, but they will be buying a delightful example of this superb stately carriage, which is currently tested and taxed and has only completed a warranted 27000 miles from new.
A lovely car, which would grace any show.

1969 Jaguar 420 G
Registration no: LHP 180F
Chassis no: HD54397BW
Estimate: £12,000-14,000
Lot 1163
The model beautifully presented here comes in Sherwood Green with Suede Green trim. Drive is directed through an automatic gearbox and she comes complete with electric windows. This is a very good example and has had just one owner from new until 2000 with a believed correct 27,000 miles regestered on the odometer. The car was laid-up in good dry storage by its owner in 1987, since then, the car has been extensively recommissioned in the past three years including repainting and a thorough mechanical overhaul. It is very rare to find an example in this condition and with this provenance.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
