Seen on ebay, November 2006. Ad reads:
"Since 1950 Jaguar had been building large, separate chassis saloon cars, starting with the Mk VII. In 1958 the final derivative arrived, the Jaguar Mk IX. The Mk IX utilized the famous XK engine which had evolved into a powerful (220bhp) 3.8 liter unit, enough to haul this large saloon car up to a top speed of 117mph. Underneath, the car shows no rot and is obviously a well taken care of car. The trunk is carpeted and includes a full size spare tire. No rot to be found in the trunk. This car has nice chrome rims with no damage that are wrapped in 3 inch white tires and blue trim to match the body. The car handles very well and is very smooth out on the road. Stopping is easy with the 4 wheel disc brakes all around.
The Mk IX had a body identical to that used on the previous Mk VIII, although it did have an improved heater and a new badge to distinguish it. This handsome saloon came with power steering, all-round disc brakes and a choice of manual or automatic transmission. At the time the Mk IX was considered on par with the then current Bentley S-type, even though it was a third of the price. The Mk IX was finally superseded by the Mk X late in 1961, marking the end of a distinguished line of separate chassis Jaguar saloons.
The Opal Iridescent white and rich blue customized paint on the car looks great with no major imperfections to note. There are a couple of very minor scratches. Both front and rear bumpers look very good with only some minor scratches with no dents or signs of pitting. All the glass is in good condition as well as the steel trim and emblems. This car has won numerous shows! This is a fantastic automobile that is very rarely seen in this condition, complete with the rarely seen rear factory air conditioning option. The a/c currently blows but not cold, most likely in need of a recharge. The car is currently being sold on an ACTUAL mileage Ohio title with VIN number of 793849BW and the current mileage shows 27,292 and original for the car. The previous owner was the third owner of this vehicle. GET OUT AND DRIVE!
The white seats that are trimmed in blue to match the exterior are in great shape with no major imperfections to be found. The carpet and headliner both look great with no staining, rips or tears. All the mahogany wood trim inside looks great with some imperfections from age as well as the wooden picnic table in the rear. It has the original AM radio which is inoperable. Under the hood you will find the original 221 Cu In inline six cylinder that runs great. We have receipts totally over $9,000 from a Cleveland, Ohio shop called Bridge City British INC for the engine rebuild done in May of 2005. It is in very nice condition under the hood and very clean overall. This is connected to an automatic transmission that shifts with no known problems. This car is a joy to drive on the road. We have had the car out and it is a pleasure to be behind the wheel of it."
