Lot #95473
This 1960 Jaguar Mk IX is finished in two-tone black and silver over red leather upholstery and powered by a 3.8-liter inline-six paired with a three-speed automatic transmission. The car was repainted and the interior refreshed at some point before the selling dealer’s acquisition in 2022, and subsequent work included re-coring the radiator and replacing the steering box, fuel pump, valve cover gaskets, tires, and shock absorbers along with the fuel pump, filter, and lines. The car is also equipped with twin SU carburetors, 16” steel wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, a sliding sunroof, driving lights, a badge bar, fender-mounted mirrors, rear fender skirts, wood interior trim, and fold-down tables for the rear passengers. This Mk IX saloon is now offered with an award plate and a clean Ohio title.
The body is finished in two-tone black and silver and features a sliding sunroof, driving lights, a badge bar, fender-mounted mirrors, rear fender skirts, and chrome bumpers with overriders.
Silver-finished 16” wheels wear polished hubcaps and are mounted with Coker Classic wide-whitewall radial tires, which the selling dealer states were mounted following their acquisition. Additional work at that time is said to include replacing the steering box and the shocks. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel disc brakes.
The bench seating and door panels were reupholstered in red leather during the aforementioned refurbishment. According to the selling dealer, the headliner was also replaced, and the interior chrome and wood trim on the dashboard, doors, window surrounds, and the back of the front seats were refinished. Tool kits are stowed in each of the front doors.
The four-spoke steering wheel fronts a burl wood dashboard panel, and centrally mounted Smiths instrumentation consists of a 120-mph speedometer, a tachometer with a 5,500-rpm redline, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 70k miles.
Rear seat occupants are provided with fold-down wood tables, a clock, and pillar-mounted lighters.
The 3.8-liter inline-six is fed by twin SU carburetors. Work in 2022 is said to have included re-coring the radiator, cleaning both fuel tanks, and replacing the fuel pump, fuel lines, fuel filter, valve cover gaskets, and engine oil.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a three-speed automatic transmission.
The car is said to have been awarded second place in class at a Jaguar Clubs of North America Concours d’Elegance.
The engine number is appended to the chassis number in the VIN listed on the current Ohio title.

The right side of the body has been reworked in a way that would make the original restorer very angry.

The high bid was $40,000, but the reserve was not met.
