Lot #75287
This 1960 Jaguar MK IX is finished in two-tone cream and brown over brown vinyl upholstery, and power is provided by a 3.8-liter inline-six paired with a three-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes a Bluetooth stereo, rear picnic trays, four-wheel disc brakes, a sunroof, driving lights, and electronic ignition. The car is said to have been registered in California since 1977 and was acquired in 2018 by the seller. The engine was subsequently rebuilt, while more recent work in 2022 included rebuilding the steering gearbox and resealing the brake master cylinder. This MK IX is offered with service records from current ownership and a clean California title in the seller’s name.
The car is finished in cream and brown and is said to have received paintwork some time ago. Features include a sunroof, rear-wheel spats, driving lights, a Leaper hood ornament, chrome bumpers with overriders, and fender-mounted side mirrors. The windshield washers are non-functional and the rear window seal is leaking. Paint chips and areas of worn and pitted trim are visible.
Cream-finished 16″ steel wheels wear factory hubcaps and are wrapped in four-ply wide-whitewall tires. Braking is handled by four-wheel discs. The steering gearbox was rebuilt and the brake master cylinder was resealed in 2022, while the brake pads and power steering pressure hose were replaced in 2018. The electric brake hold function is inoperable, the steering is noted to feel loose, and the spare tire does not hold air pressure.
The seats and door panels were reupholstered in brown vinyl and matching replacement carpets were installed during prior ownership. Lap belts were added in 2018 and amenities include a Bluetooth stereo, a heater, rear picnic trays, and a dashboard-mounted rearview mirror. An electric choke switch is located under the dashboard. The pillar-mounted lighters are inoperable and wear is visible on the driver’s seat.
A four-spoke steering wheel fronts a wood dash housing a reverse-sweep tachometer and a 120-mph speedometer, while an aftermarket coolant temperature gauge is mounted below the dashboard. The factory coolant temperature gauge is non-functional and the right fuel level gauge is inaccurate. The five-digit odometer has rolled over and shows 800 miles. Approximately 1,500 miles have been added by the seller, and true mileage is unknown.
The 3.8-liter inline-six is equipped with dual-sidedraft carburetors and a Pertronix electronic ignition system. The engine was rebuilt and the muffler, engine mounts, and horns were replaced in 2018.
Power is delivered to the rear wheels via a three-speed automatic transmission. The front transmission seal and speedometer bushing were replaced in 2018.
