This 1958 Jaguar Mk VIII is a left-hand-drive example that is powered by a 3.4-liter inline-six paired with a three-speed automatic transmission and is finished in black over red leather upholstery. Equipment includes Lucas headlights, a sunroof, rear wheel spats, dual fender-mounted mirrors, 16″ steel wheels, a heater, wood interior trim, folding rear trays, and a push-button radio. The car reportedly spent time in Colombia before being acquired by the seller in Massachusetts in 1989. This Mk VIII is now offered with manufacturer’s literature and a Massachusetts title in the seller’s name.

The car is finished in black and features a sliding sunroof. Additional exterior details include Lucas headlights, fender-mounted mirrors, rear wheel spats, and twin exhaust outlets. Scrapes on the spats and other paint blemishes can be seen up close.

The 16″ steel wheels are mounted with Dunlop whitewall tires and wear polished hubcaps. Trim rings are fitted on three of the wheels and a removed ring is included in the sale. Stopping power is provided by drum brakes at all four corners. The seller states that the brake system has been overhauled, which involved replacing the master cylinder, brake servo assembly, wheel cylinders, brake shoes, and hoses.

The left-hand-drive cabin houses front and rear benches trimmed in red leather with lap belts for the front passengers. Amenities include a heater, door storage pockets, a dashboard-mounted rear view mirror, front and rear center armrests, folding rear trays, and a push-button radio. The seller states both clocks and the manual antenna do not work.

A four-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of a burl wood dashboard with centrally mounted Smiths instrumentation consisting of a 120-mph speedometer, a reverse-sweep tachometer, and gauges for amperage, coolant temperature, and oil pressure. The five-digit odometer shows 26k miles, approximately 3k of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown. The seller states that the fuel level gauge is inoperative.

The 3.4-liter inline-six features dual carburetors and twin fuel tanks. The seller states that the cylinder head was modified to utilize unleaded fuel. An oil change was performed in 2021.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a Borg Warner three-speed automatic transmission. There is a transmission leak and corrosion is present on the underbody.

The engine stamping matches the cowl tag.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
