    Car listed as sold at:
    www.fantasyjunction.com/cars/248-Jaguar-Mk.%20IX-Inline%206%20Cyl

    Sellers description:
    1960 Jaguar Mk. IX Sedan
Chassis No. 775117DN, Engine No. NC9188-8
Silver with Black and Grey Interior

This impressive car was the subject of a very costly and comprehensive restoration some years ago. It appears the body was taken off the frame as the underside is nicely detailed and appears to be extremely solid. Fantasy Junction has performed a thorough service, including; rebuilding and adjusting the carburetors, replacing the condenser and rotor, repairing the fuel gauge sender, replacing the fuel filters and cleaning the fuel lines. The car has a 4-Speed transmission with working Overdrive. Also, the car is equipped with very rare "J" headlights.

A compression test was performed on February 14, 2006, with the following results:
    From Engine Front:
    1
    140

    2
    145

    3
    145

    4
    140

    5
    150

    6
    150

The exterior is very presentable and has recently seen a very high quality repaint in this silver and black combination. There are no major flaws obvious.

The wheels have been restored in matching silver. The exterior chrome is reasonably good, with no flaking or major pitting.

The interior is good. The dash and door wood presents opportunity for improvement, while still shiny, the varnish is cracking. The leather was replaced during the restoration, while not splitting or cracking, the leather front seats show very minor discoloration. The rear seat leather is in very good condition, as is the headliner, and carpet. The door jams are nicely detailed, yet the door panels are a bit shrunken. This car was fitted with a sunroof by Jaguar, making it an ideal car for California cruising.

The engine compartment is extremely detailed, showing hours of careful work, but the fire wall remains burgundy. Apparently the car was previously silver with burgundy, rather than silver with black.

Mechanically the car is in good running condition with working overdrive. It is fitted with aftermarket A/C. Some attention should be paid to the brakes, as the car has been mostly unused for sometime.

This is a rare opportunity to own beautifully styled Jaguar perfect for family outing, with which much of the difficult and costly restoration work already out of the way.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
