Current bid $1,959 reserve not met, 1 bid 8 days left in auction.
Sellers description:
Jaguar project needing straightforward restoration.
Recently aquired as a stalled restoration project is this 1959 Jaguar Mark IX Saloon 3.8 litre in right hand drive guise. This vehicle was being professionally restored and was carefully disassembled from a complete car approximately 5 years ago. The exterior chrome, interior seats, panels, wood trim, and glass were removed before restoration and carefully stored. Additionally, a parts car was obtained which yielded just about another car's worth of spares, although in LHD form, but still provided an additional set of interior wood, some chrome, trim, interior, front and rear glass, etc. There is a very large selection of spares that come with this vehicle in addition to it's completeness of existing parts.
BODY: Exceptionally nice, straight body that is in primer, very close to being ready for paint work. A few small rust spots were professionally repaired limited to the lower areas of the front doors. The rest of the vehicle appears very nice and rust free. There is an extra pair of rear spats. Previous owner has spent approximately $8,000 in body work and materials so far, and this car is very straight with only some recent dings from storage. A few final days of prep work and alignment, and this vehicle could be painted. Overall, body is excellent with only some areas that need minor finishing details.
MECHANICALS: Original 3.8 litre engine with automatic gearbox (matching #'s) is currently installed in the car and the condition is unknown, but I would assume it would need rebuilding. No past history is known, but all mechanicals appear complete with (2) air cleaner and ducting assemblies, radiator is removed but inside interior of car, correct S.U. carbs, power steering, power 4 wheel disc brakes, etc. Car is currently rolling and steerable.
TRIM: All chrome is present with extra parts from parts car. Chrome is straight and clean, but probably needs a re-do, although some parts could be saved. All glass is present and in good condition. Original interior panels have been saved to be used as patterns, along with trunk panels. Interior wood is in very good overall condition, and some has been re-sprayed with clear coat. There is an additonal wood set for the interior. Front and rear seat assemblies have been retrimmed in good quality, correctly-colored medium red vinyl, and are nicely done with the correct springs and padding. Headliner has been removed, but all hardware has been saved. There is also a complete extra grille with the car. Hubcap set has been rechromed (4) and are still wrapped up in plastic. Gauges and switch gear appear in good condition.
CHASSIS: Chassis frame appears straight, solid and clean as a Jaguar of this age would appear. Front suspension may need some rebuilding of components. Car rolls and steers fine. Brakes would need rebuilding, as well as fuel system.
Overall, this Jaguar Saloon offers a worthwhile project, with some large expenses of the restoration nearly completed (full bodywork in primer). This matching numbers large sedan is a complete car with loads of extras, which can be sold off at the finish of the project to recoup some costs. Sold on Bill of Sale with California title currently being applied for (1-2 weeks).
The car also still retains it's original VIN plate with the following four numbers on it:
VIN #: 775013 BW
Body #: N009030
Engine #: NC 9090-8
Gear Box #: JBC 2081
