This 1956 Jaguar Mk VII M is a right-hand-drive example that was reportedly first sold in Australia and later spent time in Europe, where the vehicle participated in the Mille Miglia rally in 2011. The car was acquired by the current owner after it was listed on BaT in June 2021, and service has since involved rebuilding the fuel pumps, brake master cylinder, and rear wheel cylinders as well as cleaning the fuel tanks and carburetors and replacing the water pump, thermostat, radiator hoses, exhaust gaskets, clutch fork, and throwout bearing. It is finished in British Racing Green over brown upholstery and powered by a 3.4-liter inline-six mated to a four-speed manual transmission equipped with electronic overdrive. Features include a hood with a leather strap, a windshield visor, a sunroof, power steering, an aftermarket CD stereo, a rally timer, fender-mounted mirrors, front disc brakes, and Dunlop-style wheels. This MK VII M is now offered by the seller on behalf of the current owner with a Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate and clean California title.
The M variant of the Mk VII is equipped with circular grilles over the horn openings as well as wraparound bumpers and tail lights featuring built-in reflectors. This example is finished in British Racing Green, and features include a leather hood strap, a sunroof, driving lights, mesh headlight grilles, vinyl decals, and a body-colored aftermarket windshield visor and rear fender skirts. The seller notes faded paint and chips on the front end.
Body-colored 15” Dunlop-style wheels wear 215/70 Toyo Open Country tires displaying 2013 date codes, and a matching spare is fitted in the trunk. Electric power steering and front disc brakes have been installed, and the master cylinder and rear wheel cylinders have been rebuilt since 2021.
The right-hand-drive cabin houses front bucket seats and a rear bench upholstered in brown leather, and interior appointments include a dash-mounted rearview mirror, a Sony CD stereo mounted below the dash, an ignition kill switch, a Brantz rally meter, a map light, and a fire extinguisher.
The four-spoke steering wheel fronts a walnut veneer dashboard with centrally mounted Smiths instrumentation consisting of a reverse-sweep 6k-rpm tachometer with an inset clock as well as a 120-mph speedometer and auxiliary gauges for amperage, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 38k miles, approximately 600 of which were added under current ownership.
The 3.4-liter inline-six was factory equipped with two SU carburetors and was rated at 190 horsepower and 207 lb-ft of torque when new. Work since 2021 involved cleaning the fuel tanks and carburetors, rebuilding the fuel pumps, and replacing the battery, drive belt, water pump, radiator cap, hoses, thermostat, and exhaust gaskets.
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. The clutch fork and throwout bearing were replaced under current ownership.
