This 1953 Jaguar Jaguar Mark VII is a left-hand drive example that was delivered new to James L. Cooke Motors in Toronto, Ontario, and it is said to have remained with the original owner’s family until being acquired by the current owner in 2021. The car is finished in Birch Grey over red leather upholstery and powered by a 3.4-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes 16” steel wheels, twin SU carburetors, a split windshield, a sliding sunroof, a left-side mirror, pop-out quarter windows, and rear fender skirts. This MK VII is offered at no reserve on dealer consignment with partial service records, a Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust Certificate, and a clean California title in the owner’s name.
The car was finished from the factory in Birch Grey and was polished under current ownership. Equipment includes chrome bumpers with overriders, a split windshield, a sliding sunroof, pop-out quarter windows, fender skirts, and a left-side mirror. The trafficator semaphores have been removed, and the windshield wipers do not work. The paint is peeling on the taillight housings, and blemishes including cracking paint are present around the body.
Grey-finished 16″ steel wheels are wrapped in Firestone tires that were mounted in January 2022. A spare is located in the trunk. Braking is handled by four-wheel drums, and the brake system was overhauled under previous ownership. A wheel cylinder was rebuilt in June 2023.
The left-hand-drive cabin houses front bucket seats and a rear bench trimmed in red leather along with color-coordinated door panels and carpeting. Amenities include a heater, a dashboard-mounted rearview mirror, door storage compartments, and a rear center armrest. Discoloration and wear are visible on various interior surfaces.
The four-spoke steering wheel frames a wood dashboard with centrally mounted Smiths instrumentation consisting of a reverse-sweep tachometer with an inset clock as well as a 120-mph speedometer and auxiliary gauges for amperage, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 35k miles, approximately 200 of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.
The 3.4-liter inline-six features twin SU carburetors and dual overhead camshafts. The starter motor and battery cable were replaced in 2021.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. The clutch is said to have been replaced under previous ownership.
The Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate lists factory specifications and a production date of February 2, 1953.
The car is titled to the engine number B27108, which is listed as the VIN on the California title.
