Car to be at auction 11/12http://www.silverstoneauctions.com/1956-jaguar-mkvii

Auction description:
NEC Classic Motor Show Sale
1956 Jaguar Mk.VII
Lot No.: TBA
Registration: MKY 489
Chassis Number: 729172BW
Engine Number: W294418
Number of cylinders: 6
CC: 3442cc
Year of Manufacture: 1956
Estimate (£): 17,000 - 22,000

Supplied new by Hoffman's of Bradford on the 7th June 1956, this delightful Jaguar Mark VII 'M' has covered what we are told is a genuine 30,000 miles from new. A comprehensive history file including MoTs going back to 1962 and service history before that date more than confirm the extraordinary low mileage on this excellent example of what was, in 1956, Jaguar's flagship model. The current registered owner of the car has owned it since 1991, during which time the car has been cared for by the respected Jaguar Specialist, Phillips Garage of Birmingham. Furthermore, the history file contains copies of invoices for all work carried out since 1991. The car is in remarkably original condition and would make a wonderful addition to any serious Jaguar collection. Finished in Battleship Grey with a Red leather interior and sporting the three speed Borg Warner automatic gearbox, this car is in all round good, if not in some areas, exceptional condition. It is a worthy candidate to carry you in style to all the top classic car meets in 2013. This is a classic car for all the family to enjoy, and it benefits from being offered from long-term single ownership. It is sold with a current MoT and no reported faults. A serious amount of motor car for comparatively little expenditure....

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
