Warwick, Warwickshire, United Kingdom

1954 Jaguar Mk VII

This Jaguar Mk VII is an elegant four-door luxury car, previously treated to a chassis-up restoration.

It is powered by a 3.4-litre inline-six, driving the rear wheels through a three-speed automatic transmission.

The car was first registered in Australia and is now offered for sale in the UK, where it has formed part of a static Jaguar collection since 2020. As a result of its time spent in Australia, the seller notes that it has never been subjected to winter UK salt roads, and was an excellent base for the ground up restoration.

The seller notes that all import taxes and duties have been paid with Nova included, though the car has not yet been registered with the DVLA. The seller notes that as a result, the new owner has the opportunity to be the first UK registered keeper.

The odometer displays 10,475 miles, though this is not warranted.

EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES

The car is finished in Royal Blue over a beige leather-trimmed cabin featuring burr walnut inlays.

It rides on a set of chrome wheels, fitted with whitewall tyres.

Equipment includes Smiths gauges, a sunroof, wind-down windows with opening front and rear quarterlights, a radio, and two speakers mounted on the rear parcel shelf.

Accompanying the sale is the workshop manual and service invoices over the last 10 years.

CONDITION

Specific notes from the seller include: minor micro-blistering on various panels.

SERVICE HISTORY

The car was last serviced in September 2023 at an indicated 10,440 miles by Heritage Motor Services, who replaced the brake master cylinder and starter solenoid.

The two previous services were carried out in 2020 at an indicated 10,424 miles and 2017 at an indicated 10,289 miles.

The seller states that the car was previously restored, which included respraying the bodywork and fully retrimming the cabin.

A recommissioning service is now recommended.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
