This 1953 Jaguar Mk VII is a right-hand-drive saloon that is said to have remained with its original owner until 1979 and was acquired by the seller in 1988. Refinished in black over red leather upholstery, the car is powered by a 3.4-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Features include a sunroof, rear wheel spats, hubcaps and trim rings, whitewall tires, wood interior trim, an Alpine cassette stereo, and dual SU carburetors. The front seats were retrimmed in 2017, and work performed in September 2024 involved replacing the fuel pump, points, condenser, and battery as well as servicing the brakes, cleaning the fuel lines and the clutch cylinders, and changing the fluids. This Mk VII is now offered at no reserve with an owner’s handbook, a service manual, service records since 2016, and transferable New York registration in the seller’s name.
The car was repainted in black in 2015 and has matching rear wheel spats. Other equipment includes a sliding sunroof, dual side mirrors, a two-piece windshield, tri-bar headlamps, and chrome bumpers and trim. Imperfections in the weatherstripping and the chrome are visible, and the seller notes these semaphores are non-functioning.
Body-color 16″ steel wheels with polished hubcaps and trim rings are wrapped in 6.50–16 Firestone Deluxe Champion whitewall tires. The tires were sealed in September 2024, and the braking system was freed up, the drums were cleaned and sanded, and the fluid was flushed.
The right-hand-drive cabin houses front bucket seats and a rear bench trimmed in red leather; the front seats were reupholstered in 2017. Interior appointments include color-coordinated door panels and carpeting as well as wood trim, dual gloveboxes, door pockets, and floor mats. An Alpine AM/FM/cassette stereo is wired to Pioneer TS-X3 speakers located on the package shelf.
The four-spoke steering wheel fronts a wood dashboard with centrally mounted Smiths instrumentation consisting of a reverse-sweep tachometer with an inset clock plus a 120-mph speedometer and auxiliary gauges for amperage, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 30k miles, approximately 300 of which have been added under current ownership.
The 3.4-liter inline-six features twin SU carburetors and dual overhead camshafts. Service in September 2024 included flushing the fuel tanks and cleaning the lines, replacing the fuel pump, repairing the oil dipstick, changing the oil, and replacing the points, condenser, and battery.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. The clutch cylinders were cleaned in preparation for the sale and the system was bled. Corrosion is visible on underbody components.
The car’s chassis number is 718350, whereas the number listed on the New York registration document (B76028718350) is a combination of the engine number followed by the chassis number.
The car does not have a title, as it is registered in a state that does not issue titles for vehicles of its age; it is being sold on its transferable New York registration document.
