Car to be at Coy's auction 4/10
    www.coys.co.uk/auctions/lot.php

    Auction description:
1951 Jaguar Mk V Drophead Coupe
    Lot 246
    Registration Number: EU Registered
    Chassis Number: 647546

This desirable 3.5 litre Mk.V Drophead first left Jaguar‘s Coventry works in 1951 and was originally supplied by Hoffman’s of New York to a Mr Nelson who purchased the car for his wife. Sadly his wife died after a few years of ownership and the car was put into storage for sentimental reasons. In 1983 it was purchased by a well known French industrialist to add to his growing collection of historic vehicles. The car remained with him until 2007 where this Mk V underwent a full body off restoration and completed only last year. The vendor informs us that no part was left untouched and that a photographic account of the rebuild is available. As you would expect the car is described as being in excellent condition throughout. The black/grey paintwork we are informed is in excellent order as well as the parchment interior.

Supplied with a fully documented history from point of sale to the present day, this fine example comes with the original service book, original warranty certificate and the US dealer list from 1951, French registration documents and a Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate.

    Estimate: €75000 - €95000

I am not 100% as the photos are a bit small, but I think I can see trafficators, which would be really odd for a car originally sold in the US market. My car (647194) had directional indicators (flasher) already in the summer of 1950, which is confirmed by the factory Service manual wiring diagrams and Spare parts book.

    Car now offered at:
    www.pyritz-classics.de/fahrzeuge/jaguar-mark-v-35-litre/

    Sellers description:
Here we offer an exceptionally perfectly restored vehicle with an equally extraordinary history. Because the history is completely known, the total mileage of 74,000 km of which 1,000 Km few can assure themselves of this almost 65 years old vehicle, after restoration. Interestingly, it is one of only 3 vehicles that were delivered by Jaguar with a front independent suspension.

Until 1983 the vehicle was in first hand. The wife used the car until her sudden death in 1958. In memory of his late wife, the vehicle was not driven but kept within the real estate in a special place.

The vehicle was then acquired in 1983 by a collector who restored it at the highest level. But in the end it was beyond his financial means, hence there was another owner in France, which made the restoration complete, inter alia by means of the company. Zwakman in NL.

The restoration is illustrated extensively. In addition to some calculations, new car invoice and the Certificate of the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust is present.

Hi, nice car, but I am sure Mr. Zwakman would know that the rear view mirror is not the right type for a MKV. Neither are the door handles nor gear shifter stick, looks like they might be parts for an XK. The hood (top) is also missing some chrome beadings. The hood envelope is nice, mine is missing. Cheers!
