Ebay item 10/3/13
www.ebay.com/itm/Jaguar-Other-leather-1951-jaguar-mark-5-drop-head-coup-/1211874 ...
Current bid $39,800 reserve not met, 4 bids 9 days left in auction. 38k miles.
Sellers description:
This Mk5 came to me in completely original condition and was missing nothing, even had a complete tool kit, jack ect. The top has been replaced along with the leather, carpet, wind lacing and the wood refinished.
Some paint on the fenders was resprayed with nitro-cellulouse laquer because the paint had been rubbed down to the primer. I then went through the car mechanics to make it a reliable driver. The following is a list of what was done.
radiator boiled, tested and painted
generator commutator cleaned and new bearings installed
new voltage regulator
engine was removed to face the flywheel new clutch, pressure plate and throw out bearing installed then balanced together.
transmission was stripped down and rebuilt bearings seals ect.
new motor and tranny mounts
the head was removed, new head studs installed, hardened valve seats milled in for unleaded gas and new exhaust valves added.
new front shocks installed and the rear knee action shocks were rebuilt.
the front end and drive shafts and joints appear to be original but are as tight as new, the steering box is also about as tight as it can be and is very unusual to find one in this condition
rear axels were removed and new bearings, grease seals and pinion seal put in, axel housing was cleaned then filled with fresh gear oil.
gas tank was also boiled out and sealed, with new sending unit and drain assembly installed.
all wheel cylinders and master rebuilt and sleeved
brake shoes relined.
the carburators had new bushings put in and have been rebuilt.
distributor rebuilt has fresh cap, rotor wires ect.

Car returns to ebay 1/18/25
Car has a buy it now price of $95,000 for 20 days, seller 1290mitchell, car in Nanticoke, Maryland, same as above, 43k miles
Seller's description:
This MK5 stirred interest in Jag circles when I purchased it. It was a completely untouched time capsule that stood as it came off the line in 1951. It has a Jaguar heritage certificate. Odometer read 25k and have added about 19k since. I will list all work that has been done and can back it all up with receipts for everything that has been done. After I got it 28 yrs.ago the original mohair top, carpet and wind lace were bad enough and were replaced. some touch up paint was done on the wings as it had been rubbed through to the primer. All work was done by then British Auto in Manchester, NH.Now SNG Barret. Wood was repaired and refinished.Comes with a California car cover made for a MK5, Has been in a climate controlled garage for the 28 years I have owned it.
Starting at the front:
Radiator boiled and pressure tested.
All new hoses and belt.
Generator cleaned and new bearings and test.
Original starter motor was rebuilt instead of a core swap to keep all original.
Steering box which is tight as the day it was made, flushed and filled, 140 w'
New shocks
Front wheel bearings.
Drums cut.
All wheel cylinders and master sleeved and rebuilt, New shoes re-arched to drums.
Engine and heater core flushed cleaned.
Head removed, decked, new exhaust valves, Hardened valve seats milled in for unleaded gas.
As the 31/2L. was prone to leak, I have a $420 gasket kit that has a modern style head gasket that should stop the seep.
Carbs were re-bushed and rebuilt.
I have a K&N filter fitted so it actually filters the air, do have the original air silencer.
Engine removed, fly wheel faced, new clutch, pressure plate & throw out bearing assembled and balanced.
Transmission was rebuilt by British Auto.
All new mounts.
Drive shaft done, new u joints, carrier bearing and bushing mounts.
Knee action shocks rebuilt.
Rear axel, ring and pinion reground, balanced and polished, all bearings pinion, carrier, wheel replaced. Grease seals, axel cleaned.
Leaf springs removed to replace all bushings, the original leather gaiters were still there but had to be removed to clean all the dirt and dried grease.
Gas tank removed, boiled and sealed, new sending unit and drain assembly installed.
The entire, complete original tool kit is there.
Original jack, lug wrench.
There is absolutely no rot or rust anywhere. There is a small damaged area on left side of spare tire door armature fix done before me. The Piece of L trim was missing but have got one.
The original Leaper was replaced with the rectangle base kind with 2 bolts. I have a very good reproduction of the single bolt, heart shaped base leaper.
The original leather was treated as long as possible, but needed replacement as well as all panels, door, kick, under dash.
Car comes with the original owners hand book, service manual and parts manual.
