Car to be at auction 12/11
www.osenat.fr/html/fiche.jsp
Auction description:
Lot n°241
1949 Jaguar Mk V 3.5 L Cabriolet European Title # 647066 6-cylinder engine Displacement: 3485 cm3 Power 2 SU carburettors Power: 125 hp Transmission 4-speed + reverse Separate frame type Wheelbase 3050 mm Body convertible 4 seats. Earls Court in 1948, Lyons unveiled two new products: the incredible XK 120 roadster and sedan Mk V. It is finally the end of the Mk IV with its axle and archaisms. To please the U.S., the primary market, the Mk V was the first Jaguar XK with the 120 to be available in left-hand drive. First new model after the Second World War, the Jaguar Mk V represents the revival of the brand founded by William Lyons. The engineer Heynes who will develop the new highly rigid chassis with independent front wheels and a hydraulic brake. The front suspension is provided by torsion bars. The engine remains the 3.5-liter overhead-valve, which has been proven since the late 1937. The Jaguar Mk V for auction is a superb car in the best possible configuration. Its engine is 3.5 liters, so it's high-end version the most powerful. Its body is the three-position convertible and driving position is on the left. This car, the 66th of 577 produced, had a first life in the United States before continuing for some years in Europe. Fully restored by the specialist AutoStorica Barcelona in 2004/2005, this "Drophead Coupe" features a beautiful green leather interior with matching carpets. The interior woodwork is in excellent condition and varnished in instrumentation, the dashboard is very comprehensive. The hood in alpaga is of course doubled. Open is a real convertible, in Milord position, the position type of elegance and competition is almost a closed two-door sedan. The body was painted in beautiful colors, black is associated here with a nice dark green. Chrome are very nice. The mechanical operation is up to the presentation. It is clear that one is dealing with a very nice car, equivalent to a beautiful Delahaye 135 that provides an engine identical to the paper and an independent front suspension, but the brakes mechanically archaic. The Jaguar Mk V Convertible car is wrongly underestimated. This is the only real competitor of the Bentley Mk VI or the Rolls Royce Silver Dawn. Its main qualities are flexibility of the engine takes over fourth as 700 r / min, the extreme refinement and comfort that allows long trips in excellent conditions. Jaguar is a great brand and the Mk V is a great car.
