Ebay item 12/4/12 cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/True-Champion-Medal-Prove-It-/160934140428
Current bid $10,300 reserve not met, 14 bids 9 days left in auction. 44k miles.
Sellers description:
Black Horse Garage is honored to present a most breathtaking example of pure vehicle design decadence...this is the vehicle of dreams! With the rare numbers of this Jaguar Mark IV "Drop-Head" convertible, with less than 700 being made. The restoration of this vehicle was done to impeccable standards, as proven by its numerous prestigious awards. 2011 Greenwich Concours d'Elegence 1st in category, 2011 Jaguar Club of North America best in show, and A.A.C.A at Hershey 1st place in category national senior award to name a few. It almost to beautiful to drive, but drives as new. Every item of this vehicle is true to the era right down to the tool kit. I challenge you to find a better restoration than the one that has been done on this 1947 Mark IV "Drop-Head". This vehicle is in better condition toady than the day it rolled out of the factory gates in 1947.

Have you noticed that:
>> this car has incorrect fog lamps mounted.
>> interior wood - Jaguar didn't make such wood pattern in 40'ties

Good catch Mateusz. Also 3.5Lt cars have two fuel pumps. This one has only one! could it be a 2.5Lt? The two chrome strip finisher mouldings on the folding hood are replaced with American type moulding.

This car is beautifully restored however not all true to factory originality.
In addition to the comments above, missing all chrome pin beading. I.D. plates mounted in wrong location with rivets instead of brass screws. SAE fasteners instead of BSW. Tool tray lid should be body color.

Hi, good observations. Again, a really nice car, but definately not from 1947. These cars are very often quoted being older than they are. Almost certainly built in May or April 1948. Cheers!

Pekka, yep according to Jaguar Heritage chassis numbers - this car must have been produced at least in 1948, if not in 1949 - without Heritage certificate it's hard to tell.

Definitely not 1949. This is an early 1948. As of 637164 and on, location of volt regulator and fuse box changed to the top of the floating dash. A bit more rational in the event of fuel pump leakage !

Good catch Daniel. To the tool tray cover being body color, I'll add that the boot walls and floor too need to be body color

Again, this car was beautifully restored and certainly well worth the asking price. Having said that, when a claim attesting to full authenticity is asked to challenge, it becomes important to redress non-authentic points of restoration, so as to reduce duplications by anyone restoring their own projects. In the case of the above car, the more I look, the more obvious the non-authentic points jump out. The running lights on the fenders are a case in point. They look more like the MK V lights with a top screw securing the units. The IV lights were secured with inner blade springs, not a screw.

Left drive three position drop head coupe runs and drives well. Brakes straight and effectively and is a powerful and nimble car that is fun to drive. Twin SU carburetors were rebuilt a few years back by noted specialist Joe Curto. Lights and trafficators work properly. Preventive maintenance up to date although the tires are old. Interior shows well with no odors and is comfortable, even for a 6' 3" tall driver. Leaks a little oil during storage, but no worse than the typical car of this distant era. Stored in a climate controlled aircraft hangar and driven sparingly during the current ownership of approximately seven years. Includes a custom made Covercraft indoor cover.
