Car to be at auction 9/18

Auction description:
Lot Number 74
From The Noted Collection of Gaylen Cisco
1951 Jaguar Mk V Saloon
The Auburn Auction
Offered Without Reserve
CHASSIS NO: 628538

• Classic British styling and elegance
• Corvette LT1 V-8/automatic transmission
• Equipped with a host of modern amenities including air-conditioning
• Ready to drive and enjoy

350 cid V-8 engine with multi-port fuel injection, 300 HP at 5,000 RPM, four-speed automatic transmission, independent coil-spring front suspension, live rear axle, four-wheel hydraulic disc brakes; wheelbase: 120"

While an original Jaguar Mark V left the factory fitted with the 160-horsepower dual-overhead cam inline six-cylinder engine found in the XK120 of the same period, this restomod is now powered by a Corvette 350 V-8 engine complete with multi-port fuel injection. Also gone is the clunky unsynchronized original manual transmission and in its place is now found a smooth and modern automatic transmission. Independent front suspension and disc brakes round out the mechanical improvements. Photos documenting the build of this car attest to the depth and quality of the conversion work that was performed.

Passenger comfort was similarly updated, with the addition of digitally controlled Vintage Air, power window lifts, power-adjustable seats, and cruise control providing a level of comfort and sophistication that was unheard of when this car was new. The Jaguar's flowing exterior is finished in dark blue with tasteful metal flake, while interior seating is covered in sumptuous cream-colored leather. The sculpted door panels are done in a combination of cloth and matching leather. The level of interior detailing is impressive and extends into the finish of the trunk. The exterior is capped of with modern Jaguar sedan wheels shod with whitewall radial tires. Featuring choice updates and upgrades, this classic 1951 Jaguar Mark V Restomod seamlessly blends its wonderful British style with modern drivability and enjoyment.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
