Ebay item 6/30/07
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-MK-V-Saloon-1950-Jaguar-MK-V-Saloon-Restored-in-S ...
Current bid $4,700 reserve not met, 3 bids, 9 days left in auction. 47k miles.
Sellers description:
1950 Jaguar MK V in BRG. Chassis #628498. A ground-up restoration in beautiful condition. The body was stripped to bare metal and then Sikkens Jaguar #6039 base coat/clear coat was applied. The interior biscuit color upholstery is simulated leather and very easy to maintain. Carpets and headliner are in coordinating colors. All interior burl walnut on the dash & window cappings was removed and beautifully refinished. An installed period radio is included. A very functional sliding sun roof makes summer touring comfortable along with the air scoops on each front fender. All gauges operate as they should with the exception of the clock. The windshield glass was replaced and all other glass is excellent. This MK V has a rare, complete, and all original tool kit which is very expensive today to replace. The trafficators are completely functional, but for safety modern turn signals have also been added. Front seat belts, while not original equipment, were again added for safety. Most of the chrome was removed and re-plated. A working original heater is included. The drive-train components are original with matching numbers. The 3.5 litre engine, #Z3027, was totally mechanically & cosmetically restored including new pistons, rings, valves, guides, bearings, hardened valve seats and the crank turned. The starter, SU carburetors, generator, water pump and etc were also restored. The radiator was rodded out, boiled, and repaired. The transmission, #JH4011, was disassembled and all wear parts replaced. The brakes have been totally rebuilt. A new Mitchell overdrive unit has been added which gives excellent cruising speed and lower rpms. Stone guards have been added to the headlamps. The gas tank was restored by RENU USA. Improved after market air filters have been installed and the original air manifold and filter come with the car and easily installed if competing in concourse competition. Two radiator caps, one plain, and one for show (the leaping cat) are included. Overall, the original fender skirts give this car a more formal & classic appearance. An owner's manual and very rare and original shop manual are included. All repair invoices, parts books, and much literature are included. This restored car has never failed to win an award including BEST of SHOW awards at numerous car shows around the country. The mileage shown is believed to be correct.

The car is for sale in Europe, now fitted with European style headlamps, otherwise very much as restored in Indianola, Iowa, United States. I remembered this as soon as I saw the engine bay. I can't remember the original colours although I think someone at Jag-lovers knew them. A strange combination for a restoration, AFAIK MKV was never available in BRG, only Suede Green and then a Saloon was always trimmed also in Suede Green. Only Black and Battleship Grey were available with Bisuit, but obviously real leather, not "simulated". :-) Asking 45.000 euros at www.smithsveglia.nl

I saw this car unrestored in the 1990s in Wisconsin ex-Canada, and again after Russ Bees of Iowa restored it. Originally pale blue with light blue leather and dark blue piping, restored BRG w/tan int.
