    Ebay item 8/13/14

Car has a buy it now price of $10,000 for 6 days. 31k miles.

    Sellers description:
This is a very original 1950 Jaguar Mark V 3.5L LHD Saloon which just came out of 40+ year storage and would make a great restoration project. The car was owned by an old British car mechanic in New England who recently passed away. I purchased the car from his Estate and it is now registered in my name. The odometer shows 31,578 original miles which appears to be accurate. The car was partially disassembled but it came with almost all of the parts to put it back together. It has many original features such as all it's original body panels, original matching # engine and gearbox and the leather gaiters on the rear springs. It appears that the paint is original (it is thin and even faded in some spots) along with all the dried out rubber seals. This car has never been restored in it's 64 year life and the doors, bonnet and boot lid all shut easily with tight gaps. The interior seats are original but need recovering. The interior wood is in really nice condition with no delamination. The gauges are all intact and in beautiful cosmetic condition. The car was stored inside so the chassis has no rot (just some surface rust on the bottom). The floors, fenders, running boards and fender skirts are also clean with no rot. The only rot I could find on the car is the driver side inner rocker panel from mid-way on the front door back and the bottom of the batter box (probably from a leaking battery). The body has some dings around it and the front could use some metal work (dented but not rusted). It has it's matching #s 3.5L engine which was disassembled and the previous mechanic owner started assembling the lower end. The only engine parts which I am aware that are missing are the pistons and connecting rods so those would need to be purchased new. The head would also need to be rebuilt. It also comes with it's original matching # gearbox which spins freely. I tried to put as many detailed pictures as I could of the car and most of the major parts. I also have some boxes with the smaller parts and a lot of the hardware which are not pictured. Car can be inspected at my home in Southwestern Connecticut.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
