This Jaguar MK5 was delivered new to John Sherwood Widdicombe in 1949 at the Hoffman Motor Car Co on Park Av in NYC
John Sherwood Widdicombe was a lieutenant in the US Army and served in Holland, Poland and Germany during WWII; he was awarded The Silver Star for valor and a Purple Heart for wounded in action. In the mid sixtees Emily gave the car to her son Widdicombe Sherwood Schmidt who drove it to his high school until he burned the clutch in 1966. He parked it in the property barn and the car hasn’t been driven since.
