Car to be at auction 4/11
www.bonhams.com/eur/auction/19280/lot/331/

Auction description:
Sale 19280 - RAF Museum, Hendon,Collectors' Motor Cars and Automobilia, 11 Apr 2011
Hendon, RAF Museum
Lot No: 331
1951 Jaguar MkV 3½-Litre Saloon
Registration no. LXW 957
Chassis no. 625749
Engine no. T6247

Estimate: £15,000 - 20,000, € 17,000 - 23,000

This particular MkV saloon comes with photographs documenting a 'body off' restoration, undertaken at date unknown but believed to be some time ago. In addition there are lots of bills for engine and gearbox work dating from the 1960s and 1970s when the car was owned by a Mr F C Wicker of Tunbridge Wells, who may have worked for Caffyns during this period. The Jaguar appears to have been in Holland in the early 1980s when it was owned by a Mr Kroon (see bills on file).
Purchased by the current vendor in August 1998, 'LXW 957' has seen little use while in his private collection. Refurbishment carried out while in the vendor's possession includes an engine rebuild in 2003 costing circa £6,000 (see bills on file from Cheviots of Isfield, East Sussex). Last MoT'd to June 2009, the car failed its recent MoT test on both the brakes and front suspension ('excessive play') and thus is sold strictly as viewed. The vehicle is offered with the failure certificate and Swansea V5.

Current engine number reported by auction vendor variously as T6247 and T6242, either of which would be a 3.5 litre Mark V engine from 1949.

JAGUAR MK V 3.5 RHD - 1951
ESTIMATION 35.000 € - 45.000 €
This Jaguar is one of the 5900 3 1⁄2 RHD of the production and has its complete history and invoices from 1963 in England with a stop in Holland in the 80's to finally come back to England during the 90's, until its arrival in our beautiful principality in 2013 -- total repair was made on this magnificent Jaguar, pictures illustrating the repair from the frame to the invoices of all parts changed in the group/engine, gearbox, hence a whole new set from 2003 with 88975 km. Less than 5000 km since the repair. Body was redone according to the rules, high density paint, new chrome, real leather upholstery and woodwork dashboard in a magnificent state (body and interior remade in the 80s in Holland). The car documents will be given to its future owner. A reliable car, ready for use.
