The 1945-1948 Jaguar MK IV, Jaguar's first cars after World War II, were essentially continuations of the 1938-39 models. Most were four-door saloons and shared the same body shell, but the 1 ½ litre model rode a six-inch shorter wheelbase and had a four- instead of six-cylinder engine.

The first car to bare the legendary Jaguar name after 1945 (SS having been dropped for understandable marketing reasons after the war!), the MK IV
Jaguar is felt by many to be the epitome of British car design of its era. The huge chrome head lamps, sweeping wings and running boards, luxurious leather interior and French polished wood all speak of style and opulence.
Even the 1 ½ litre was capable of a respectable maximum of about 70 mph; the 3 ½ litre could reach over 90 mph, well among the class leaders.

This fine example, fitted with the largest available engine, the 3 ½ litre, was originally manufactured on December 3rd 1947 and dispatched on the 23rd December to distributor Henlys Limited of London with the first owner a W.C Neild.

Imported to Italy in the 1980s by a prominent collector and sympathetically restored and subsequently homologated by ASI, the Italian federation of classic car clubs.

We are informed the car is very original and boasts the original black hide interior, woodwork and finished in the original specification of Gunmetal.
This matching number example is supplied with a Heritage Trust Certificate, Italian registration documents and a UK V5 registration document as well as a current MoT certificate.

It is rare for an unmolested 3 ½ litre post-war Jaguar saloon of this age and condition to come to the market; an historic car which would make a worthy and welcome addition to any collection of motor cars.

This is an exceptional example of this most attractive Jaguar Sports Saloon which has been part of an important private Jaguar collection in Italy. The car has been extensively restored bodily with a really lovely original Black leather interior which has a pleasing light patina and is complemented by the rich woodwork which is in superb order together with the Mid-Grey wilton carpets. Mechanically the Jaguar drives extremely well and the 3.5 litre OHV engine revs willingly and is incredibly smooth running and responsive. The gearchange is particularly easy and modern in feel. This very handsome car typifies what made Jaguar so succesful around the world due to the classic design and high quality finishes. It really gives a Bentley of similar vintage a run for its money!.
