July 1996, Jaguar World, UK magazine, p 5: Letters: This car 527180 owned by the father of N.S. Arriens of Holten, The Netherlands, (engine H3608), delivered to him in Autumn of 1950. Shortly thereafter the Dutch importer warned him of a batch of faulty alloy con rods and offered to replace the rods without charge. The offer was declined by the owner. In August 1957, at about 95,000 kms, the rods failed "when driving uphill on the German autobahn north of Cologne". A new block was installed and the car was sold to the secretary of the Australian Embassy in The Hague.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
