Current bid $30,000 reserve not met, no bids yet, 6 days left in auction.

Sellers description:
1947 Jaguar Mark lV Saloon. Restored from the ground-up by the owner, the car recently won a prestigious JCNA (Jaguar Clubs of North America), National Division Award in 2006 for Second Place with a score of 99.33. (The car was judged in Seattle and four additional events). This first "all steel" bodied Jaguar is a Special Edition Sedan 'S' with many options and all numbers matching.

With only three known owners since new, the car had not been driven and was stored inside for the last 21 years. The odometer reads 56k miles, but the car actually has only 3,500 total miles since the complete restoration in 2004 & 2005. Beautiful form every angle, this classic can now be yours.

Details:
Rust Free Nevada Car.
1.5 Liter 4 Cylinder Engine with 65hp: Westlake Cylinder Head. Engine rebuilt, crank turned 10k under. Bore standard. Matching Numbers.
Rebuilt 4 Speed Manual Transmission.
New Clutch, Brakes, Chrome, Paint, Leather and Wood

Appointments.
Heater, Driving Lights and Back Turn Signals...All Options.
Manual Sunroof.
All Original Factory Manuals and Tools.

Condition: Beautiful. The owner states the car was remarkably and completely rust free and was restored and painted without fillers. Everything is operational on this vehicle.

Imperfection: The paint needs a final finish detail. All in all, this car is one of the best in the country. The JCNA award attests to the restoration.

Car to be at auction 8/12

Auction 20322

1947 Jaguar Mk IV 1.5 Liter Saloon
Chassis no. 413845
Engine no. KB4953
The striking and authentic color combination found on this well-restored Mark IV Saloon reflects the circumstances of its release in 1947. Although pre-war predecessors were typically finished in somber monotones, the postwar Jaguars were available in eye-catching two-tones, such as the red-and-cream scheme seen here, that gave the car's a fresh look. The car's resplendent red leather interior is accented by the fine wood instrument board and interior garnishments. All-steel body construction, introduced by Jaguar just before WWII, was an important Mark IV feature.

One of only four examples of the almost exclusively right-hand drive Mark IV series known in the United States, this Jaguar is described by the vendor to be a rare "S" model, as attested to by its Harry Weslake-designed high-output overhead valve cylinder head, sunroof and heater. The Jaguar has had but four owners, and according to the vendor has covered only 56,000 miles from new. The original purchaser, a Lt. Anderson, was an American medical officer stationed at the time in the UK. The next owner was the wife of a Los Angeles movie producer. The car later passed to a Seattle collector, from whom the vendor obtained it in 2003.

A complete body-off restoration, performed during 2006, has been documented with extensive photographs. Great care was taken to ensure every gauge, all of the exterior and interior lights and even the European-style "Trafficator" turn signals were working at this time. The tool tray is complete to original specifications, and factory-supplied owner literature accompanies the car. Submitted for Jaguar Club of North America (JCNA) judging several times, the Mark IV Saloon has averaged 99.8 points. The vendor reports the car is very dependable and states that it cruises nicely at 50 mph.

Offered with a Nevada title.
Estimate:
US$ 45,000 - 55,000
£29,000 - 35,000
€36,000 - 45,000

No two-tone paint combinations were available for any MKIV nor MKV, and absolutely no Red was available at all in 1946-1948. The only car available in Red was the XK120 "Super Sports" like it was called back then (1949-1951). The only colours available for the MKIV were Suede Green, Ivory, Birch Grey, Battleship Grey, Lavender Grey, Gunmetal and Black.

It is actually the other way around, pre-war SS's and Swallow bodied cars were available in bright colours and two-tone paints. Also the cylinder head stuff is funny, all OHV cylinder heads on all SS Jaguars and MKIV and MKV were based on the design of Harry Weslake (not Westlake) of Weslake Research and Development, so they are just as rare as every single engine made by Jaguar or SS Cars back then.
Cheers!
