This 1964 Jaguar MK X is a non-running project that was sold new in England and imported to the US in 1978 under previous ownership. The car was purchased by the seller in December 1986 and subsequently placed in storage in the mid-1990s. The 3.8-liter DOHC inline-six is fitted with triple SU carburetors and mated to a three-speed automatic transmission, and the car is finished in two-tone blue and silver over red leather. Work performed prior to the car’s storage is said to have included a carburetor rebuild, fuel tank repair, and replacement of the fluids and ignition components, though the car has reportedly not run since the 1990s and will require mechanical and cosmetic attention. This MK X project is now offered at no reserve by the seller on behalf of its current owner with manufacturer’s literature, service records, spare and removed parts, and a clean Washington title.

The car wears an aged and faded blue over silver finish, with chrome window trim, fender-mounted mirrors, and brand badging. Rust on the left-front fender, wheel opening, front doors, and vertical surfaces is further shown in the photo gallery below.

Chrome bumpers are retained along with window glass, Lucas lenses, and other trim. The steel wheels exhibit corrosion and wear Jaguar-branded hubcaps and older white-stripe tires. The seller notes that the car can be rolled and steered when the transmission selector is placed in neutral, and the older brake components remain functional.

The interior retains worn red leather upholstery, wood trim, factory switchgear, and a push-button radio. Other features include a lockable glovebox, powered windows, and wood picnic trays for the rear occupants.

Smiths instrumentation includes a 140-mph speedometer and a five-digit odometer that shows just under 85k miles. The seller estimates that approximately 3k miles were added during current ownership before the car was stored. True mileage is unknown.

The 3.8L twin-cam inline-six features triple SU carburetors and is mated to a three-speed Borg-Warner automatic transmission. The engine turns freely as demonstrated in the video below, though no attempt has been made to perform a startup. Photos in the gallery display the cylinder head stamping and a removed fuel tank, the latter of which is said to contain a leak.

Additional photos are presented in the gallery below showing the suspension, chassis, and driveline, as well as underbody corrosion.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
