Record of substantial upgrades in 1996
Built in December 1965 and first registered in January 1966 from the dealer Botswoods in Ipswich, this icon started life with a blue and cream pairing before later being changed to the more tasteful red and black combination. From what we can see the car has spent time in various places across the UK with the current being in the English riviera.
Invoices for numerous mechanical works are present with the biggest being for close to £10,000 in 1996 for substantial modifications when purchased from Barnsbury Classics. Past MOT certificates are also present which track and confirm the mileage.
THE INTERIOR
Great condition
Black leather seats
Unmarked dash and working dials
Addition of tasteful MP3 radio
A glorious blend of walnut and black leather, the interior of this MKII is splendid. The seats were retrimmed from cream to black at some point in the 90’s and are in first class condition with very little sign of wear or use. The dash is sleek and polished as the day it left the factory, with the beautiful switches and dials all present and all reported to be in working order.
Black carpet is present throughout, again with very little indication of wear, no doubt replaced at the same time as the seats. It's a real pleasure being inside one of these Jags, designed to be spacious and luxurious for those in the front and rear, wherever you find yourself will feel nothing but ultimate satisfaction.
THE EXTERIOR
Striking red paint
Chrome work in great order
Great condition
Finished in what we believe is Jags signal red, the exterior of the car is in fine order with only a few small age related blemishes. Chrome trim and bumpers are bright and fresh as are the wire wheels, there’s very little to complain about when it comes to this car. It's quite clear the car has lived a life being cherished by all who were lucky enough to have ownership and not neglected in any manner.
These MK II’s are a thing of beauty from all angles, with beautiful flowing lines complemented by the tiniest chrome detail. A very tidy example of a superb car.
THE MECHANICS
Four new tyres - covered 0 miles
Aftermarket Air Conditioning
XJS Power Steering
Electronic Ignition
Upgraded headlights
Uprated Suspension
On our visit the car was backed out of the garage it calls home and manoeuvred into position comfortably and without fuss. The car is MOT exempt however has been tested every year over the last decade with the latest one valid until 2023.
The addition of the uprated suspension and power steering helps keep this mighty car under control easily while not hindering the performance, in fact it's only added to its road capability. Air conditioning was also added, a very rare modification to any classic which adds a subtle modern element to the iconic classic. Overall, the car is fighting fit and ready to be enjoyed.
