Sellers description:
After a quarter-century of ownership is my beloved 1962 Jaguar Mk 2. I've owned many classic cars over the years, including other Jags, but this one was and is the ultimate specification Mk 2, a "keeper" that I planned on restoring to perfection one day. Life has gotten in the way of this dream and I must now let her go to a true enthusiast who is looking for something truly special.

My car is the top-of-range 3.8 litre model, sporting the manual 4-speed gearbox with overdrive. It features wire wheels (fitted with correct redline Michelin radials) and the very rare factory-fitted steel sliding sunroof. It retains its original Sundym glass windows, its original Motorola radio (with instruction booklet), fully reclining seats option, Lucas foglamps, original tool roll, owner's manual and warranty card in its Jaguar binder.

This is the almost-mythical rust-free California car, carrying that gold standard of authenticity, its original black California license plate. Overall condition is extremely good, with excellent compression and oil pressure. It was repainted in its original Olde English White prior to my tenure, and the front was repainted more recently to correct minor damage to the grille and foglamp area.

After 24 years of dry storage, I recently recommissioned the car with the following work:
• Flushed and rodded radiator
• Hot-tanked fuel tank
• Rebuilt twin SU carberettors
• New SU fuel pump
• All brake calipers rebuilt/resleeved by White Post Restorations
• New brake servo
• New master cylinder
• All new brake hoses
• New clutch master and slave cylinders

The Jag runs and drives and is a superb candidate for restoration. It needs a full interior re-do including seats (seat covers are fitted to front), carpets, headliner, door rubbers, and wood refinishing, although the veneers aren't in bad shape as-is. The potential to return this Jaguar to a high-point car is obvious; the investment in this particular, ultimate-spec Mk2 Sport Sedan is good business sense. And the joy of driving this epitome of 60s high-performance saloons will reward to every time you press the starter button and that twin-cam six growls to life.

I hold a clear California title in my name

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
