Sellers description:
1962 Jaguar Mark II- This car is from Savannah, Georgia and is an excellent candidate for a restoration. Somebody in the car's past (a demon perhaps), converted the car to a Chevrolet V6 and Chevrolet automatic gearbox. The good news is there was no cutting or butchering done during this conversion. It looks to be a complete bolt in, which will make it a fairly simple task to undo the conversion. As part of the auction the car comes with a good running (low mileage rebuilt) 4.2L 6 cylinder engine from a Series II XJ6. You will need to source a gearbox but there are several options open to you.
*This vehicle has NO title and will be sold with a Bill of Sale only. Also, the mileage shown on the odometer is 63,427 but, given that this car is 52 years old, I would not count on that being accurate.
The body is very solid. The doors don't sag at all and operate as they should. All the glass is the original Triplex and in excellent condition, except for the windshield, which is broken. The windows all roll up and down properly. The wood is all there and needs restoring. There are only a few areas that will need to be re-veneered.
This car runs and drives but CANNOT be driven on the road. The transmission leaks and the brakes are inoperable, except for the parking brake, which works quite well. you will need to bring a trailer to pick her up or send a truck. We will be glad to help with loading and have flexible hours.
The wipers and turn signals do not work but the fan blower, headlights, interior lights and horn do.
The car comes with several nice amenities: Original tool kit, original Lucas Fog Ranger lamps in very good condition, original side skirts and original A/C under dash unit. I took the steering wheel cover off to discover a beautifully preserved wheel beneath.
