Would like to find out further history or provenance on this car. Understand that it is very rare and one of only 500 Mark 2 of any engine size produced with a factory steel sunroof. Has the sought after 3.8 litre engine with manual overdrive gearbox and wire wheels. Believe it was purchased new by Mr Fletcher from the US Embassy in London as a home delivery LHD car. Driven in the UK for several years then shipped to the USA. Understand it stayed in the same family for several years then owned by a custom home builder in the Adirondacks. I purchased from a gentleman who acquired the vehicle at an estate sale. Believe I am the third owner. Odometer reads 88,783 miles which I believe to be original. Car is very restorable and currently considering whether to restore myself or sell for restoration as I also have a 1965 1 owner 3.8 Mark 2 Auto with only 50K miles.

This 1961 Jaguar Mk II is a left-hand-drive example equipped with a 3.8-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive. The car wears cream paint over a red interior, and equipment includes a steel sunroof, a heater, crank windows, four-wheel disc brakes, and 15″ wire wheels. The removed steel sunroof and rear fender side skirts are included in the sale along with miscellaneous spare parts. This non-running Mk II project is now offered at no reserve with a Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate and a bonded Texas title in the seller’s name.
The body is finished in cream and features a chrome front grille, chrome bumpers with overriders, and faired-in fender markers. Additional equipment includes a Leaper front hood ornament, a Royal Automobile Club grille badge, and front fog lights. The finish has faded and there are areas of rust in the lower panels, floors, and rear spare wheel storage area. The removed steel sunroof and rear fender skirts are shown in the gallery and are included in the sale.
15″ wire wheels wear Jaguar two-eared knock-offs and are mounted with 185-width Michelin redline tires. Disc brakes are equipped at all four corners.
Low-backed front bucket seats are trimmed in faded red upholstery, and the dash is worn and partially removed. No carpeting is installed, and rust through is visible in the floors, transmission tunnel, ceiling, and door jambs. The car is equipped with a steering column-mounted overdrive engagement indicator, a heater, a center console, a Jaguar-logo ashtray, and manual crank windows.
The two spoke steering wheel fronts Smiths instrumentation including a 140-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer with an inset clock, and centrally mounted auxiliary gauges monitoring water temperature, oil pressure, fuel level, and amperage. The five-digit odometer shows just under 88k miles, and true mileage is unknown.
The 3.8-liter inline-six features twin SU carburetors under a single air cleaner. A replacement battery and spark plug wires are installed, and the engine does not turn freely according to the seller.
Shifting is through a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive. Rust is visible on the underbody.
The Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate lists the original colors, component numbers, as well as the manufacture and dispatch dates. The certificate notes that the body number supplied by the owner does not match the original factory records.

Ebay item 11/21
Opening bid US $2,000 reserve not met 0 bids 6 days left in auction, seller airbrusherairbrush, now said to be in Cypress, Texas. Same photos.
Seller's description:
This is THE Mark 2 Jaguar to put your time and effort into restoring. Great candidate for a concours build, Coombs racing saloon, or a Vicarage style upgrade. Early 1961 model with all matching numbers and with a confirming Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate. Very rare steel sunroof version with a manufacturing estimate of 500 built offline in the factory and believe only 10 or so may still exist in the World. Largest available 3.8 litre engine with 4 speed manual gearbox and overdrive plus wire wheels. Shall require a full restoration but most parts and panels are readily available globally from several quality Jaguar Mk 2 parts suppliers. Corrosion on the underside is not typical of many Mk 2 Jaguars and main structural areas appear solid. Within the capabilities of an individual or a professional restorer and further photographs can be supplied upon request. Left hand drive and these lend themselves to changing relatively easily to right hand drive. Engine does not run but everything is present including the twin SU carburetors. Understood the car was purchased new through Jaguar Cars of New York Home Delivery Service in 1961 by a US Diplomat who drove in and around London for a couple of years before exporting to the US. Purchased to restore but current owner has since bought a similar 1965 3.8 litre Mk 2 driver.
