Ebay item 3/10/08

Current bid C $2,094.69, reserve not met, 6 bids, 6 days left in auction. 93k miles.

Sellers description;
This is an original, unmolested, unrestored 1961 Jaguar Mark 2. The first owner put all the miles on the car and owned it until 1997 when the second owner acquired it with the intention to someday restore it. After 10 years in dry storage he realized time would not allow this and I purchased it from him. It is a completely honest car with nothing hidden by any attempts to restore. This is the one to restore - it has the 3.8L engine, 4 speed manual transmission with overdrive. It is completely original even down to the Radiomobile radio. I have tried to show in the pictures how solid the body is, with minor rust in front of each wheel. The doors open and latch properly as when new. The chrome is complete but would require polishing or rechroming depending on your intent. All the carpets are original and are in good shape. The leather seats do not have any holes or splits and would soften up with leather conditioner easily and could be recolored if you didn't want to retain the original patina. The wood is all complete (the door cappings are removed from the drivers door but come with the car), but all woodwork should be redone as the finish has aged. The underlying walnut veneer is very good. When I open the rear picnic tables the wood looks like it would have the day it left the factory. The vinyl door panels and trim is all in good shape. All vent windows have the original chrome fittings and work well. All glass is original and in good shape. Weather seals around doors and glass however are dry and should be replaced. The engine has not been touched and last ran in 1997 before being fogged for storage. I have not attempted to start it, but the engine turns by hand easily. The original spare is in the trunk (which is in very good shape, as is the original jack and tool kit which is mostly complete. The car comes with the original owners manual, factory service manual, manufacturers warranty pamphlet even the peroidic maintenance voucher book original to the car. It is truly a piece of history. In 1961 the Mark 2 offered power that the Mark I lacked, offered an updated interior and added the elegance of chrome window surrounds and fittings. If you have ever wanted a wonderful Mark 2 to add to your collection, this is the one. This is a very rare find in this original condition. I also have several new parts ready for the restoration that will be included with the car to the new owner. e.g. All engine hoses and 52 piece rubber moulding kit, nose badge, air and fuel filter and fuel filter assembly. The car is located in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
