www.barons-auctions.com/details.php
Auction description:
Manufacturer Jaguar Cars
Model MkII 3.8 Saloon
First Registered 1961
Registration No 8300DU
Engine No LB2367
Chassis No 216689DN
MOT March 2012
Colour White
Orignally built as a left-hand drive example for sale to a Mr T Bajor of New Jersey, this Mk II was, perhaps strangely, originally UK registered with the distinctive Coventry number 8300 DU before travelling overseas. In 1991 the car returned to the UK and was subsequently refurbished at a cost of approximately £17,000 at which time it was also converted to right hand drive.
Renowned experts XK Engineering valued the MkII at £22,500 shortly after the car was refurbished, which supports the high standard of work undertaken. The car has enjoyed regular use since and further works were carried out shortly after the last owner purchased it eight years ago. This included rustproofing (£540), power steering conversion (£2,350) and engine bottom end rebuild (£3,806).
In 2004 a successful application was made to DVLA for the original number 8300 DU to be re- issued, which it was successfully. In 2009 the owner relocated to Ireland with the car where it sucessfully passed its NCT. It drove back from Ireland last month for MOT and to attend this auction.
Finished in White with a red leather interior, this Manual/Overdrive example is, importantly a 'matching numbers' car. Aside from some flaws in the paintwork which has been largely untouched since the 1990s refurbishment, the car is reported to present beautifully and is MOT tested to March 2012.
Estimate £14000-16000
