This 1961 Jaguar Mark II was purchased new by the owner’s father-in-law from Emil Frey AG in Zurich, Switzerland, and acquired by the owner in 1977 and imported to Canada. The car is refinished in white over gray leather and is powered by a 3.8-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive. Equipment includes 15″ wire wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, driving lights, burl wood trim on the dashboard and doors, fold-down rear trays, and a Nardi steering wheel. Recent service consisted of an inspection and an oil change. This Mark II is now offered on dealer consignment in Canada with partial service records, a tool kit, a Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate, and Alberta registration.
Originally finished in Pearl Gray, a repaint in white was reportedly carried out in the 1990s. Features include a Jaguar leaper hood ornament, chrome bumpers and trim, a left fender mirror, driving lights, removable rear fender skirts, and dual exhaust outlets. Records indicate the rocker panels, jack panels, floor pans, and wheel wells were previously replaced.
15” wire wheels are secured with two-eared knockoffs and mounted with 185-series Michelin XVS tires. Stopping is handled by four-wheel disc brakes.
The interior was originally light blue, and the seller states that the seats and door panels were reupholstered in gray Connolly leather and that matching Wilton carpets were installed. Equipment includes front and rear vent windows, a map light, two-speed windshield wipers, and fold-out wooden tables for the rear seat occupants.
A wood-rimmed Nardi steering wheel sits ahead of a wood dashboard housing a 140-mph speedometer and a 6k-rpm tachometer with an inset analog clock. Auxiliary gauges in the center stack include displays for coolant temperature, oil pressure, fuel level, and amperage. The five-digit odometer shows 50k kilometers (~31k miles), though total mileage is unknown.
The 3.8-liter inline-six breathes through twin SU carburetors and was factory rated at 220 horsepower and 245 lb-ft of torque. Recent service by X J Auto Service of Calgary, Alberta consisted of an inspection and an oil change.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive.
The Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate describes the car’s original color scheme, lists serial numbers, and notes the date of dispatch to the Emil Frey AG in Zurich, Switzerland as February 3, 1961.
