Ebay item 1/7/09

Car has a buy it now price of $53,000 for 6 days.

Sellers description:
This is a early example of the Jaguar Mk2. Therefore it has some unique features that are not found on later cars. An example is the access lid in the oil sump. It is the most desired of the Mk2 models since it has the large 3.8 litre engine, powersteering, Reuter reclining front seats and picnictables. The exterior color is Opalescent dark green and the interior is cream with leather seats. Furthermore it has beautiful wireweels with Michelin XVS whitewall tyres.

Originally a RHD car but converted to LHD during a restoration done in New Zealand in 1998 by the well-reputed shop Dr. Heins. It was then sold at the Essen Motor Show. In 2006 it was sold by Thiesen Kg in Hamburg and imported to Denmark. Since the restoration in 1998 it has only driven approximately 10000 miles

The car has a 4 speed fullsynchronized Jaguar gearbox with overdrive, powersteering with a Jaguar XJ6 steering rack. Since I bought the car in June 2006 the following has been improved/replaced:

High output C48 dynamo.

GAZ adjustable chockabsorbers.

Kenlowe fan.

Electronic igntion with programmable ignition curves and new ignition leads and coil.

Replacement of all cooling hoses.

Replacement of wiring loom incl. foglamps, sidelamps, wipermotor, overdrive solenoid and various switches.

Stainless steel exhaust.

Renovation of leatherseats (extra foam added and leather recolored).

Original HS6 1,75" carburettors and manifold replaced with rebuilt 2" SU HD8 carburettors and manifold.

The car has just been fine tuned and it drives perfect. The larger carbs gives the car more "punch" and the brakes are good too making it a car that can be used in modern trafic.

Drawbacks: It has 3 small bubbles in the paint in the area around the sidelamp to the right side (see photo). They were present when I bought the car in 2006 and have not become worse since then. A body shop has told me it is a minor job to fix. The new foglamps are not working the wiring loom is connected but I have not been able to find the correct light bulbs!

Various spareparts included such as new door rubbers and the original carb and manifold setup.

The chassis no. is 214507. The engine no. is LA-7490-8.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
