This 1960 Jaguar Mk II was acquired by the current owner in 2023 and subsequently received an aluminum radiator, fuel pump, suspension bushings, shocks, tires, differential seals, and brake lines. The four-speed manual transmission and steering rack are said to have been rebuilt. The car is powered by a 3.8-liter inline-six and is finished in Opalescent Silver Blue over gray leather. Equipment includes a limited-slip differential, power steering, rear coilovers, Spax front shocks, fog lights, four-wheel disc brakes, 15″ wire wheels, a push-button radio, and a heater. This Mk II is now offered by the seller on behalf of the owner with a clean Utah title in the owner’s name.

The car is finished in Opalescent Silver Blue and was repainted some time ago. Exterior equipment includes a Leaper hood ornament, fog lights, a pop-up cowl vent, and chrome wraparound bumpers with overriders as well as a chrome grille, window surrounds, trim, and dual exhaust outlets. Bubbling on the driver’s door is visible.

The 15″ wire wheels were mounted with 185HR15 Michelin XVS tires in 2023. The car was factory equipped with an independent front suspension and has been modified with a rebuilt XJ6 power steering rack and a rear axle coilover conversion. The rear shocks and power steering pump were rebuilt in December 2023 at which time Spax front shocks, stainless steel braided brake lines, and replacement suspension bushings were installed.

The cockpit features front bucket seats and a rear bench trimmed in two-tone gray leather along with color-coordinated door panels and blue carpets. Burl walnut veneers adorn the dashboard, door caps, fold-down rear trays, and window frames, and interior equipment includes push-button radio, a heater, lap belts, and front and rear vent windows.

The wood-rimmed steering wheel fronts Smiths instrumentation consisting of a 140-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer with an inset analog clock, and centrally positioned auxiliary gauges displaying water temperature, oil pressure, fuel level, and amperage. The five-digit odometer shows 94k miles, approximately 200 of which were added under current ownership.

The 3.8-liter XK inline-six was factory rated at 220 horsepower and 237 lb-ft of torque and was reportedly rebuilt in 2012. A replacement fuel pump and an aluminum radiator were installed in 2023.

A four-speed manual transmission with overdrive was rebuilt in 2023, and power is directed to the rear wheels through a limited-slip differential. A lightweight flywheel has been installed.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
