Seller's description:
1962 Jaguar MK2 3.8 litre
Registration No: 2640 FN | Chassis No: 208523DN
This car underwent a major restoration in 1997 at a cost of about £35,000. It was stripped to bare metal and then re-painted in its original Midnight Blue, with new beige leather interior, re-veneered woodwork, and new carpets.
The engine was rebuilt (and balanced) with Acralite pistons, a big valve, straight port head, and twin HD8 2 inch SU Carburettors. A six-branch manifold and a straight-through exhaust system were added plus a long-range fuel tank with Monza filler. Still retaining the original four-speed gearbox with overdrive. The front suspension being upgraded to Koni shock absorbers, and stiffer spring rates giving better road handling.
The steering has been converted to rack and pinion with a Vicarage type power steering kit in addition.
There is a comprehensive service record, mainly with Enginuity in London.
This is a very well maintained and sensibly uprated car which is both a delight to see and to drive on the road.
Ready for immediate inspection or delivery from our showroom, here at Foxfileds in the very heart of the United Kingdom.
