This fabulous example fitted with a manual gearbox and overdrive was dispatched by Jaguar cars on the 6th July 1962 and first registered to Dr. N. Violle of Kingston upon Hull. At some point in the car's life it was exported to Australia, returning to the UK in a rust free condition in 2003 by Ken Jenkins of Jaguar Enthusiasts Club fame. The vendor purchased the car from him in 2009 as a restoration project. He then commissioned the well known Jaguar Mk.2 specialists, Flying Car Engineering, to carry out a total 'nut and bolt' restoration which took two years. During this time, the body shell was dismantled and sent to Surface Processing (SPL) Limited for stripping and electrophoretic immersion coating with zinc phosphate for the ultimate rust protection, the car was then repainted in the original Jaguar colour of Indigo Blue with the underside finished in the body colour and stone chipped as originally specified. The interior was retrimmed in the correct Jaguar red to the highest standard by Suffolk & Turley Coachtrimmers, with fine attention to detail including the fitting of rare, correct front Reuters seats. Mechanically, the engine, gearbox and rear axle were rebuilt along with all the ancillary equipment, the petrol tank was replaced and the car rewired. As far as possible the restoration has been carried out to original specification but the following modifications have been made for modern road use; Vicarage power assisted steering, Kenlowe fan, uprated heater matrix, electronic ignition and a 1965, all synchromesh, gearbox. Supplied with a V5C registration document, new MoT test certificate, Heritage certificate and a complete photographic record of the restoration. This is a rare opportunity to purchase a Jaguar Mk.2 in concours condition which has covered less than 3,000 miles since the restoration.
