Car was at auction 3/11
www.bonhams.com/eur/auction/19279/lot/254/

Auction description:
Sale 19279 - Bonhams Oxford, Collectors' Motor Cars and Automobilia, 5 Mar 2011
Oxford
Lot No: 254
1961 Jaguar Mk2 3.8-Litre Saloon
Registration no. 5686 TR
Chassis no. 204142BW
Engine no. LB3577-8

Sold for £2,875 inclusive of Buyer's Premium

This example of Jaguar's perennially popular Mk2 in its ultimate form was purchased by the vendor in 1974 and has not been used since a tree fell on its garage, demolishing that building and denting the car's roof (a second-hand roof is offered with it). An automatic transmission model, '5686 TR' has had only six owners from new and has been preserved in totally original condition. Described as 'too good to break', the car is complete and thus an excellent candidate for sympathetic restoration (the engine turns freely). Sold strictly as viewed, it comes with its original buff logbook and Swansea V5.
No Reserve.

Car returned to auction 3/15

Auction description;
Lot 177
Registration: 5686 TR
Chassis Number: 204142BW
Engine Number: LB3577-8
Number of cylinders: 6
CC: 3800cc
Year of Manufacture: 1961
Sold for (£): 5,625

This 3.8 Litre Mk II Jaguar was purchased by the previous registered keeper in 1974 and has not been used since a tree fell on his garage, damaging that building and denting the car's roof and buyers should note that a second-hand roof is offered with this vehicle. The current owner aquired this example in 2011 and has simply stored the car with a reputable firm ever since.

An automatic transmission model, '5686 TR' has had only seven owners from new and has been preserved in highly original condition. The car is complete and thus an excellent candidate for restoration. Sold strictly as viewed, it comes with its original buff logbook and Swansea V5.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
