www.historics.co.uk/buying/auctions/2020-07-18/cars/ref-131-1960-jaguar-mk-ii-sa ...

Auction description:

Windsorview Lakes July 18th 2020

Lot 261 - 1960 Jaguar Mk. II Saloon (3.8 Litre)

Registration WDX 277A

Chassis Number 202014BW

Engine Number LA7519/8

Odometer reading 108,199 miles

Estimate £20,000 - £25,000

Supplied as an original UK model with the correct 3.8 engine combined with an automatic gearbox, it has since been upgraded to a manual unit with overdrive, this righthand drive model was restored prior to and upto the 1990s by a renowned local Jaguar engineer in Oxfordshire. The seats and trim were purchased from Aldridge Trim and fitted although there are no invoices for all works carried out over the years. This includes new Dunlop brakes, front suspension, steering and bushes as well as new dampers front and rear. The radiator was re-cored and all associated pipework replaced. It now carries a re-furbished cylinder head with rebuilt carburettors, a new clutch and associated hydraulics and a Jaguar synchromesh gearbox. Overall, the condition is good, although a little finishing is required, and the car sits well on its correct 72 spoke wire wheels and new Michelin tyres.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
