Seller's description:
1968 JAGUAR 340
Price $ 59,990.00 NZD

Odometer 77,000 km
Fuel Type Unleaded

This 1968 New Zealand new Jaguar 340 is finished in eye catching Willow Green paintwork and has travelled 176,000 km.

This stunning 340 was purchased by Dr Wally Metcalfe from Sybil Lupp, the renowned Jaguar Racer and mechanic, in 1978.

This 340 then had a mechanical freshen up and the Engine was upgraded to 3.8 Specification. It was fully balanced with a Lightweight Flywheel and Competition Clutch. Furthermore it was treated to a Brake Caliper Upgrade fitting Xj6 Vented Discs using Jaguar 420 Uprights, Xj6 Wheels and Tyres. This was to take advantage of the extra braking forces, the Differential was also converted to Limited Slip Specification during this period.

All of the mechanical upgrading was supervised by Sybil Lupp

Dr Metcalfe used the car as his Daily Driver until 1989 when the car was given a comprehensive restoration of the body and interior by The Toy Shop Restorations Ltd in Wellington fitting Triple Carburettors and Power Steering

The car has been maintained meticulously throughout its 40 years, a true credit to Dr Metcalfe, and is a fast, capable Road Car, a real joy to drive!

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
