Car to be at auction 10/14
www.barons-auctions.com/details.php

Auction description:
Lot No: 137
Manufacturer Jaguar Cars
Model MKII 3.4 Sports Saloon
First Registered 1968
Registration No SHS 949G
Engine No 7J527988
Chassis No 1J3529
MOT July 2015
Colour Racing Green

Only 82 of this particular model were built with the 3.4 engine between September 1968 and March 1969. 78 of these were home market RHD models of which 77 were supplied to various Police Forces, mostly in Scotland whilst only one was supplied to a private owner. The remaining four LHD export cars were supplied to the GHQ of the Saudi Arab army.

This particular car is number 2 of the 82 Police cars in question and the first owners were Renfrewshire County Police. It is therefore extremely collectable.

The Heritage Certificate shows that the car was indeed finished in Police White with a red Ambla interior although the documented service record shows that the car was later fully restored and finished in British Racing Green cellulose and re-trimmed in beige leather. The quality of this car really needs to be seen to be believed as the doors close beautifully, the panel gap is perfect and it is a joy to drive. There are only four owners from new, and copies of V5s (including the buff log book) give detail of previous owners and a picture of this car's history.

These cars were supplied in response to Police enquiries for a more powerful and faster car after the 340 had gone out of production in 1968 and there are only three survivors known to the Jaguar/Daimler Heritage Trust. So whether you see yourself as a cop or a robber, this makes for a fast touring car with a whole load of character. Supplied with original handbooks and a diary of works completed, this is an important car and one that can only appreciate.

Guide Price: £16000 to £18000

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
