Ebay item 10/28/18
www.ebay.com/itm/1967-Jaguar-Other-AC-Power-Steering-Leather-Seats/273529254518
Classified ad price: $16,000 seller gr8dayca, 28k miles.

Seller's description:
This 1967 JAGUAR 420 is located in a Copart facility in 1922 NAZARETH CHURCH ROAD, SPARTANBURG, SC 29301. I tried to sell it on Copart, but this vehicle is a classic, clean title vehicle. You can buy this vehicle on Ebay or through Copart by becoming a member.

This vehicle has a clear South Carolina Title. If you need to get a CA title for this vehicle, I can help you with that for an additional fee.

1967 JAGUAR 420 RESTORED WITH HERITAGE DOCUMENTATION

Mechanical
You are viewing a classic 1967 Jaguar 420 optioned with Factory AC and Power Steering. Produced for just 2 years (1967 and 1968) and with only 10,236 total production and an estimated roughly 500 remaining. 420 saloon is a very rare Jaguar powered by the venerable Jaguar 4.2L 6 cylinder engine with dual HD8 SU carbs. The 420 replaced the S-Type in the Jaguar model line up. Included with the car are lots of receipts for restoration work performed (Stainless Steel exhaust, Stainless brake hoses, Rebuilt transmission, Rebuilt carburetors, Rebuilt brake master/ booster and Electronic Ignition). Has all original tools in tool kit plus original jack. Mechanically everything appears to be working as it should and even the AC will blow cool when prompted. Runs, drives, starts and stops but has been driven very little the last few years. A good tune up would likely do wonders.

Exterior
1967 Jaguar 420 finished in Maroon over Maroon Leather Interior and Chrome wire wheels. This 420 remains exactly as it came from the Factory February 1st 1967 as documented on the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust Certificate accompanying the car (see photos). This particular 420 is an older restoration and has been with the same owner for the last 20 years. Original owner was in Atlanta GA and the car has been a Southern car its entire life. Paint and chrome are driver quality with some minor scratches and a few chrome bits are missing. The car is very solid and straight.

Interior
Interior is in very nice condition with leather seats, door panels and trim near perfect.

This car is still at Copart facility, 1922 NAZARETH CHURCH ROAD, SPARTANBURG, SC 29301 and run through an auction almost every week never reaching its reserve. If interested in this car ask for resent picture of the RH front area below the headlights. You should find a dent and paint chips from the bumper override hitting the sheet metal. Also ask for close up pictures all around the rear wheel wells.

July 2022 - the car was sold and is now located in Chicago. I'll be making some updates to it but this is a very solid car and is extremely clean. I have not found any rust on it yet. The 4-speed O/D transmission is a great addition and makes this a very engaging car to drive.

The interior has new carpet, new leather seats, and new door cards. New tires sit on newer chrome wire wheels.

Follow along on my website.

Update February 2023

In October 2022 I drove the car from Chicago IL to Fairhope AL for the South Alabama British Car Show and traveled 2,104 miles. The only issue was a failed fuel pump somewhere in Tennessee but it was easy enough to switch to the other tank/pump until I made it to an auto parts store.

Over the winter I have had the exhaust manifolds Jet-hot coated, I built a mount for an AC compressor, and added a trunk mount Old Air Ac unit. I'm also replacing/updating the gauges, upgrading the alternator, and rebuilding the heater box.

High-level details are on my website.

Current bid: $2,550 reserve not met9 bids, 6 days left in auction, seller thor-in-2004.

Seller's description:

t’s been a fun trip but it’s time to sell my 1967 Jaguar 420 and move on to my next project. I bought the car in the summer of 2022 and proceeded to put close to 3,000 miles on her during my ownership, including an epic road trip where I drove here from Chicago to Fairhope, AL for the South Alabama British Car Show in October 2022.

If you’re not familiar with the 420 Compact Saloon, it was made for two years and it is very uncommon to see one. In my 30 years of British car ownership this is the only one I have ever seen. These were built with the 4.2 liter straight 6 and although this came from the factory with an automatic transmission, that was replaced with a 4 speed manual gearbox with overdrive available on the top gear. In my opinion the manual gearbox gives the car a very sporty and lively feel.

This winter I added air conditioning, upgraded the alternator, and improved the cooling system by adding twin Spal electric fans and a PWM fan controller. I also replaced all the gauges with a new set of custom gauges from Speedhut. I also rebuilt the steering gear box to eliminate the leaks, upgraded the P/S steering pressure hose with a braided stainless steel hose with AN fittings, rebuilt the heater box and replaced the blower fan and heater core, and replaced both fuel pumps with Hardi pumps. While I had the car off the road for the winter I sent the exhaust manifolds off to Jet-Hot to be ceramic coated. The car also has new tires (July 2022), a hidden cruise control (Sep 2022), and a new windshield, a new stereo, and a new battery (Oct 2022).

Prior to my ownership the car was fitted with new leather seats, door panels, and carpet. New tubeless chrome wire wheels were also fitted and are in excellent condition. The car has a stainless steel exhaust system, gear reduction starter, and the prior owner went through and rebuilt or replaced all the mechanicals. At some point the car was repainted in it’s original maroon color.  The car has extensive documentation all the way back to the 1990’s and the binder of documentation is about 2” thick.

This 420 starts, drives, and rides very well. It will start on the first push of the starter button. The clutch is smooth and the gearbox works perfectly. Overdrive engages smoothly in 4th gear and drops the RPM’s to a relaxed level on the highway. The cruise control switch is hidden between the front seats and when it is engaged it holds the speed to within +/- 1 mph of the set speed. The heater provides hot air and the AC blows cold (I have it set to cycle at 35° F). The vacuum operated fresh air vent at the base of the windshield works with the push buttons on the center console. The radio has Bluetooth and a USB drive and 4 speakers. A fire extinguisher is located behind the driver’s seat. The car is in excellent shape and I would not hesitate to drive it anywhere.

My favorite part of the car – and the reason I bought it – is the way the car smells when you’re sitting in the driver’s seat. It smells like leather, and wood, and wool carpeting. It’s incredibly unique and a great art of the character of the car.
