Sellers description:
1966 JAGUAR MK X.
THIS SHOULD BE AN IMPORTANT CAR TO A RESTORER OR CUSTOM BUILDER. VERY RARE OPTION OF A FULL FOLDING ROOF COMBINED WITH AN AMAZING CONDITION OF ALL INTERIOR WOOD TRIM PIECES.
MOTOR AND TRANSMISSION ARE OUT OF THE CAR AND I WILL NOT BE ABLE TO RECOVER THEM. TWO AND A HALF YEARS AGO DRIVE-TRAIN WAS SENT FOR A COMPLETE OVERHAUL, SHOP FILED BANKRUPTCY SIX MONTHS LATER AND THAT WAS THE END. I HAVE SEEN JAGUAR V12'S IN MK X'S AS WELL AS HIGH PERFORMANCE AMERICAN V8'S. REMEMBER THAT MK X WAS ORIGINALLY DESIGNED TO ACCEPT 12 CYLINDER ENGINE.
INTERIOR WOOD IS ABSOLUTELY IN REMARKABLE CONDITION. THIS IS ORIGINAL TRIM WITH ORIGINAL VENEER, NOT A REPRODUCTION OR RE-VENEERED WHICH ARE EASLEY RECOGNIZABLE.
WESTERN DESERT CAR IS FREE OF RUST AND HAS A VERY STRAIGHT BODY AND VERY PRESENTABLE CHROME. LEATHER INTERIOR IS USABLE AS IS; NO RIPS OR TARES BUT WELL AGED LOOK. ORIGINAL AC UNIT MAKES FOR AN INTERESTING CONVERSATION PIECE.
MY ORIGINAL PLAN WAS TO START WITH COMPLETE MECHANICAL RESTORATION FOLLOWED BY WEATHER SEALS AND THAN UPHOLSTERY. FOLDING ROOF IS FULLY OPERATIONAL NEEDING ONLY VERY MINOR WORK.
I THINK THAT THE MOST IMPORTANT POINTS ARE; RUST FREE STRAIGHT BODY AND PERFECT WOOD WHICH ALONE CAN COST SEVERAL THOUSAND DOLLARS FOR A REPRODUCTION.
